Research On The Impact Of Requirements Response In App Version Updating On Users’ Satisfaction

The growth of mobile devices has driven the use of mobile applications(Apps)in all aspects of life.Apps are widely accepted and relied upon by the majority of users due to their flexibility,rapid updates,and consideration for user experience and interactivity.The surge and activity of users have also brought considerable revenue to developers,promoting the prosperity of the entire market.User satisfaction is an important indicator reflecting the quality of the App,and version updating is an important means for developers to respond to user needs,thereby effectively improving user satisfaction while enhancing the quality of the app.Most existing studies consider the impact of App attributes on user satisfaction from the perspective of Application level,but analyzing the impact of update behavior on users from the perspective of version has more practical significance.Moreover,there is a conflict between the diversity of user demands and the limited resources of developers,developers need to determine the demands to maximize profits.However,there is a lack of relevant discussion in the current research.In order to explore the relationship between version updating and user satisfaction,this paper explores the impact of response consistency and timeliness on user satisfaction from a managerial response perspective,and according to Kano user demand satisfaction model,divides response consistency into responses to different types of demands.Empirical analysis was conducted based on 4797 versions and 463176 comments from 241 shopping apps in Apple App Store on “Qimai” website.This paper obtains the following research conclusions:(1)The behavior of version updating responding to user demands can be divided into two categories: consistency between update content and user demands and timeliness of response to user demands.This study shows that both response consistency and timeliness of version updating have a significant positive impact on user satisfaction.(2)This paper divides the consistency of responding to user demands into different types of demands and finds that there are differences in the impact of developer responses to user demands of different types on user satisfaction,among which the response of basic demands has the greatest impact,followed by the response of expected demands,and the response of attractive demands has the smallest impact.
