Abstract/Summary:
The 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly put forward the high-quality development of China’s economy for the first time. The high-quality development of China’s economy is a major strategic plan for the changes in the stage of my country’s economic development and the current juncture. As my country’s economy has entered a stage of high-quality development, industrial transformation and upgrading is regarded as an important engine for promoting high-quality economic development. Therefore, the focus of high-quality economic development is industrial transformation and upgrading. In the process of industrial transformation and upgrading,it will inevitably have a non-negligible impact on my country’s employment structure and product supply structure, and further affect various consumption expenditures of residents, resulting in significant changes in the consumption structure of residents. At present,my country’s household consumption has gradually entered a period of personalized and diversified consumption from imitation consumption, which is reflected in the supply level, that is,the process of the industry moving from low-end production to high-end production. The Yangtze River Economic Belt spans the three major regions of the east, middle and west, covering 11 provinces and cities along the Yangtze River.Because industrial transformation and upgrading have an important impact on residents’ consumption,in-depth analysis of the impact of industrial transformation and upgrading in the Yangtze River Economic Belt on residents’ consumption has important practical significance and academic value from the perspective of high-quality economic development. This paper firstly sorts out domestic and foreign literatures on industrial transformation and upgrading and household consumption, and analyzes the status quo of industrial transformation and upgrading and household consumption in the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The number of introduced 4G users accounted for the proportion of mobile communication users, per capita afforestation area, total vehicle nitrogen oxide emissions per unit of GDP,the proportion of annual investment in ecological projects accounted for in GDP,the number of foreign technology import contracts and other indicators, and from high-end industry,The eight dimensions of industrial informatization, industrial internationalization, industrial ecology, industrial integration, industrial coordination, industrial sharing and industrial clustering have constructed an index system for evaluating the level of industrial transformation and upgrading in the Yangtze River Economic Belt; With 44 indicator data of industrial transformation and upgrading from 2010 to 2019 and related data of household consumption, namely survival consumption, enjoyment consumption, development consumption and per capita consumption expenditure of residents, the entropy method is used to measure the Yangtze River economy from 2010 to 2019.The level of industrial transformation and upgrading of 11 provinces and cities;from the second, this paper divides the consumption types of residents into subsistence consumption, enjoyment consumption and development consumption. The numerical regression model studies the impact of the industrial transformation and upgrading of the Yangtze River Economic Belt on the three major consumption types of residents;when conducting sub-regional research on the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the per capita consumption expenditure of residents in the Yangtze River Economic Belt is used as the explained variable, and a panel threshold regression model is established. The spatial econometric model is used to analyze the regional heterogeneity of the impact of industrial transformation and upgrading on residents’ consumption, and finally, policy recommendations are put forward based on the analysis of this paper. The study found that when the entire Yangtze River Economic Belt was taken as the research object, industrial transformation and upgrading had a significant positive impact on residents’ survival consumption, enjoyment consumption and development consumption. In different quantiles, the industrial transformation and upgrading have promoted the residents’ subsistence consumption, enjoyment consumption and development consumption expenditure.Among them, with the continuous increase of residents’ subsistence consumption and development-oriented consumption expenditure, industrial transformation and upgrading will play an increasingly important role in promoting residents’ subsistence consumption and development-oriented consumption expenditure; The promotion effect of enjoyment-type consumption expenditure has not changed much. When conducting subregional research on the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the impact of industrial transformation and upgrading in the upstream and downstream regions of the Yangtze River Economic Belt on residents’ consumption has a threshold effect based on the employment structure. When the employment structure is in a higher threshold range, the promotion effect of industrial transformation and upgrading on household consumption is more obvious, and the threshold effect of the employment structure in the midstream region is not significant.Relatively in a relatively primary stage,it is difficult to play its threshold role;the impact of industrial transformation and upgrading in the upper, middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt on residents’ consumption has a threshold effect based on product supply and demand. When product supply and demand are within a higher threshold range, the promotion of industrial transformation and upgrading on household consumption is also more obvious. Therefore, when the employment structure and product supply and demand are within different thresholds, there is a nonlinear relationship between the industrial transformation and upgrading in the upper, middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and household consumption expenditure. In the analysis of spatial effects, the global Moran’s I shows that there is a spatial aggregation effect in the consumption of residents in the Yangtze River Economic Belt;the spatial autoregression coefficient of the spatial Durbin model is significantly negative at the 10% significance level, indicating that the consumption of residents between regions is significantly negative.Expenditure has a spatial effect, and it is a negative spatial spillover effect;the impact of industrial transformation and upgrading on household consumption in the time-fixed-effect spatial Durbin model has a significant positive direct effect and a significant negative spatial spillover effect, that is,industrial transformation. The upgrade helps consumer spending in the region, but depresses consumer spending in other neighboring regions.
