| The development of the Internet, big data, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and other information and communication technologies has greatly promoted the development of the digital economy. The trend of digitalization of the global economy has developed significantly, the scale of the value-added of the digital economy has been expanding, and the digital economy has become an important new driving force to promote economic development. At the same time, the overall trade in service worldwide shows a trend of continuous growth and plays an important role in the economic development of a country. With the development of service trade, people are more and more concerned about the quality of service trade. The digital economy has great advantages in processing data and information, matching supply and demand, and reducing trade costs, and it has a role in promoting the quality of a country’s service. Therefore,in the digital era,it is important to research the impact of the digital economy on the export technological sophistication of service trade in order to promote the highquality development of the economy. In this paper,we sort out the relationship between the digital economy and the export technological sophistication of service trade by combing the literature, and empirically analyze the impact of the digital economy development on the export technological sophistication of service trade exports based on the panel data of 63 countries from 2007-2014.Firstly,the fixed-effects model is applied to test the impact of digital economy development on the export technological sophistication of service trade;secondly, the robustness of the benchmark regression results are tested through the re-measurement of core explanatory variable and explanatory variable;the shortening of sample time;the tailing treatment;the endogeneity problem and methods of transforming econometric models;again, the heterogeneity analysis is conducted from the perspective of the national income level heterogeneity;the heterogeneity of the level of digital economy development and digital economy development segmentation indicators; Finally, the stepwise regression method is used to examine the impact of digital economy development level on the export technological sophistication of service trade exports. The empirical results show that: firstly, the digital economy development has a significant enhancement effect on the export technological sophistication of service trade.Secondly, the digital economy development in low and middle income countries has a greater role in boosting the export technological sophistication of service trade, and in high-income countries has a smaller role in boosting the export technological sophistication of service trade. The low digital economy development level has a stronger boosting effect on the export technological sophistication of service trade, and the high digital economy development level has the second strongest boosting effect on the export technological sophistication of service trade. The promotion effect of digital infrastructure and digital technology innovation environment on the technical complexity of service trade exports is significant, while the intensity of digital competition is not significant.Thirdly, the mechanism test shows that the development of digital economy can promote the export technological sophistication of service trade through the channel of technological innovation and trade cost. Finally, the quantile regression test results show that the level of digital economy development has a facilitating effect on the export technological sophistication of service trade at different quantile points, and the effect on the export technological sophistication of service trade is stronger at the quantile point of 20,and the enhancement effect is relatively small at the quantile of 50 and 80.Based on the research findings, this paper proposes the following countermeasures: vigorously develop the digital economy to boost the technical complexity of service trade exports.Promote the free flow of data elements and strengthen the regulation of data;strengthen the construction of digital infrastructure;encourage technological innovation to ensure the sustainable development of the digital economy;and enhance the integration of the digital economy and trade in service. |
