Report to the 20th CPC National Congress emphasized that to realize Chinese modernization,we must aim at the prosperity of all the people, which is the essential requirement of Socialism with Chinese characteristics.General Secretary Xi stressed that the promotion of common prosperity in rural areas is the most important and arduous task at present, and we must speed up the pace and make concrete and detailed efforts.Farmers’ income is generally low,and the income gap between urban and rural areas is the most prominent among farmers, and the problem of unbalanced and insufficient development is the most prominent in rural areas.Raising farmers’ income and continuously narrowing the income gap are the keys to comprehensively promote rural revitalization and accelerate the realization of common prosperity for all people.Digital economy has strong permeability, high sharing and wide coverage, which can provide impetus for rural economic growth, promote farmers’ income increase, narrow the income gap and realize the common prosperity of all people. The existing research literature and real cases have explored the effect of digital economy on farmers’ income increase, but the academic research on the influence mechanism of digital economy on farmers’ income increase, the heterogeneity analysis of income increase and the influence of digital economy on urban-rural income gap is still insufficient,so it is necessary to further explore. Therefore,at the intersection of digital economy and promoting common prosperity, exploring the influence of digital economy on farmers’ income will help to provide theoretical basis and policy suggestions for realizing common prosperity for all people.First, based on the previous research results and relevant theoretical basis, the theoretical analysis framework is constructed to explore the theoretical logic relationship between the digital economy and the growth of farmers’ income.Secondly, based on the data of 248 cities from 2011 to 2020,fixed effect model and intermediary effect model were constructed to explore the impact of digital economy on farmers’ income growth and its mechanism. Then, the heterogeneity analysis was made by subregion, urban class and income group. To explore the difference of the effect of digital economy on farmers’ income increase in different regions, different urban levels and different income groups. And further discuss the impact of digital economy on urban-rural income gap. Finally, based on the empirical results of the corresponding policy recommendations. The conclusions are as follows:(1)Digital economy helps to promote the growth of farmers’ income. Moreover, the level of urbanization plays a key role, that is,the development of digital economy can effectively increase farmers’ income by improving the level of urbanization.(2)There is heterogeneity in the effect of digital economy on farmers’ income increase.Specifically, from the perspective of subregion, the effect of digital economy on the increase of farmers’ income shows a decreasing trend of "east-middlewest".From the perspective of city level, the income increase effect of digital economy on farmers in new first-tier cities,second-tier cities,third-tier cities,fourth-tier cities and fifth-tier cities is significant, and the income increase effect of digital economy on farmers presents a decreasing trend of "new first-tier cities-second-tier cities-third-tier cities-fourth-tier cities-fifth-tier cities".However, the income increase effect of digital economy on farmers in first-tier cities is not obvious. From the perspective of income group, the higher the income level of farmers, the stronger the income increase effect brought by digital economy.(3)The relationship between digital economy and urbanrural income gap presents a "U" shape, that is,with the continuous development of digital economy,urban-rural income gap shows a trend of narrowing first and then expanding.Based on the above research conclusions, this paper puts forward policy suggestions:First, accelerate the construction of rural infrastructure and promote the coordinated development of regional digital economy; The second is to strengthen the training of digital skills and cultivate farmers’ digital literacy; The third is to accelerate the digital transformation of rural industries and form a new engine for increasing farmers’ income. The fourth is to promote the integration of digital economy and urbanization and break the dual economic structure between urban and rural areas.
