With the development of digital era,human society has entered a new stage of historical development The deep integration of traditional manufacturing technology and modem information technology has given birth to a new mode of intelligent manufacturing.After Germany first proposed industry 4.0 in 2011,major countries in the world have put forward new ideas for future intelligent manufacturing,and China has also put forward the "made in China 2025" plan.In this context,a group of manufacturing enterprises with forward-looking awareness in China are seeking intelligent transformation and upgrading by means of innovation.Shenyang Machine Tool(Group)Co.,Ltd(SYMG)is a large-scale state-owned manufacturing enterprise,and its main product metal cutting machine tool plays an extremely important strategic position in the national industrial product sequence.In order to seize the development opportunity in the new-round intelligent manufacturing competition,the enterprise actively seeks Strategic Transformation Driven by breakthrough technological innovation.However,due to the influence of the complex internal and external environment,the reform of the enterprise encountered Waterloo,and the enterprise is facing bankruptcy and reorganization.This study mainly reviews and sorts out the organizational change process of S YMG during 1993 to 2019 by using case study method.The narrative method is used to construct the description scene to provide management phenomenon,and then the case analysis is carried out by combining contingency organization theory and complex adaptive system theory.The main conclusions are as follows:Firstly,the organizational change of SYMG is a process of adaptation to external environment from passive to active marked by strategic transformation.Technological breakthrough is the leading factor to drive the strategic transformation of the enterprise.Secondly,the success or failure of an organization’s change should not only focus on whether the internal change measures adapt to the external environment,but also take reasonable management measures to control the resistance to change,and pay attention to the adaptation relationship between the organizational complexity and the environmental complexity at any time to ensure the organization Resource concentration.Thirdly,contingency organization theory can offer a better explanation in the process of organizational change in the simple internal and external environment of the enterprise.When the scale of an organization is too large or the external environment is complex,the theory of complex adaptive system provides a better explanation.
