Research On The Impact Of Joining Industry Associations On The Performance Of Platform Enterprises’ Network Information Content Responsibility

With the rapid development of Internet technology and the derivation of platform enterprises,the speed of network information dissemination has greatly improved,and the audience of network information content has become more and more extensive.Rumors,pornography,incite national hatred,separatist countries and other vulgar,bad or even illegal network information content has seriously threatened the normal network order,polluted the network space,and even caused bad social influence.The vulgar and even illegal network information content,such as false,pornography,incitement to national hatred,split the country,has seriously threatened the normal network order,polluted the network space,caused the negative social influence.Therefore,as a platform for the production or dissemination of network information content,platform enterprises perform their responsibilities for network information content,which is not only an inevitable requirement for China to realize the strategy of network power and the overall national security concept,but also an important way to promote China ’ s network space clearing plan.Although China has issued a number of laws and regulations,such as Cyber Security Law and Regulations on Ecological Governance of network information content,but the relevant laws and regulations still need to be further improved.It is of significant value to research how to play the governance role of social organizations other than legal regulation,so as to effectively make up for the legal gap.As an important part of social organizations,industry associations should play the social governance function of network information content.At present,scholars have carried out research on the governance of network information content from multiple perspectives,including government regulation perspective,platform enterprise autonomy perspective,media supervision perspective and the public perspective.However,the relevant research literature from the perspective of industry associations is still insufficient.Therefore,from the perspective of industry associations,it is of great significance and necessity to study the governance effect and governance path of industry associations on the fulfillment of network information content responsibilities of platform enterprises.From the perspective of industry associations,based on resource dependence theory and new institutional economics theory,this study explores the internal mechanism and participation path of industry associations ’ governance effect on the fulfillment of network information content responsibility of platform enterprises and conducts an empirical test on the effect of industry associations participating in the governance of network information content of platform enterprises and the effectiveness of various participation paths.Taking the platform enterprises in A-share listed companies from 2013 to 2020 as the research samples,this research uses OLS model to analyze the influence of industry associations on the performance of network information content responsibility of platform enterprises.The results show that:(1)In the case of controlling other variables,joining the industry association can significantly promote the platform enterprise network information content responsibility.(2)The greater the support of industry associations to the governance of network information content,the better the performance of network information content responsibility of platform enterprises.Further analysis shows that for content-based platform enterprises,pre-support behavior governance effect is better,and post-incentive behavior has no obvious effect.For non-content platform enterprises,pre-support behavior and postincentive behavior have significant governance effects.(3)Due to the substitution effect between the political connection of platform enterprises and the participation of industry associations,political connection negatively regulates the governance effect of industry associations on the fulfillment of the responsibility of platform enterprises for network information content.On the theoretical level,the research results can make a useful supplement to the literature in the field of industry association research and platform enterprise network information content governance.At the practical level,it can provide several suggestions for industry associations to fully and effectively participate in the governance of network information content of platform enterprises,and provide research reference and theoretical support for China to further construct a comprehensive network management system including industry associations.
