With the frequent occurrence of global environmental problems,ecological protection and sustainable development are increasingly concerned by the government,enterprises and academia.Facing the situation of environmental destruction,our government has introduced a series of policies to institutionalize and normalize the construction of ecological civilization.As an important part of the implementation of environmental policies,enterprises need to pay attention to environmental protection,change the mode of production,shape the green image and gain competitive advantages no matter for the purpose of promoting their own development or undertaking environmental responsibility.As the basic subject of enterprise operation,employees play an important role in enterprise environmental protection practice.Therefore,it is of practical significance to study how to promote green behavior of employees for enterprises to realize green development.It is found that leader style has an important influence on positive employee behavior in an organization.As one of the modern leadership styles,charismatic leadership emphasizes guiding subordinates to learn and observe through the leader’s own charm,so as to influence employees’ specific workplace behaviors.Compared with other leadership styles,charismatic leadership pays more attention to inspiring employees,improving their ability to follow and encouraging them to actively engage in green behaviors.At the same time,employees’ green behavior is the manifestation of employees’ personal identification and cognition.The influence of leadership style on employees’ green behavior may be realized through some intermediary.This study reviewed and sorted out existing literature,and established relevant research models and hypotheses with charismatic leadership and its various dimensions as independent variables,employee green behavior as dependent variable,and moral identity as intermediary variable.By questionnaire survey method,in-service employees of Chinese manufacturing,service,energy and other enterprises were surveyed.A total of 332 questionnaires were recovered by filling in online questionnaires.SPSS and AMOS were used for empirical analysis of descriptive statistics,correlation,reliability and validity,difference,and regression of the data.The results show that charismatic leadership and all dimensions have a positive impact on employees’ green behavior.Charismatic leadership has a positive effect on moral identity;Moral identity has a positive effect on employees’ green behavior;Moral identity plays a partial mediating role between charismatic leadership and employees’ green behavior.According to the conclusion,this study puts forward the following suggestions:(1)Chinese enterprise leaders should strengthen the cultivation of charm traits and establish positive examples,convince others with virtue,affection,wisdom,pleasing others with form and correcting others with themselves;(2)Enterprises should pay attention to creating a green atmosphere,provide material and spiritual support to employees,cultivate and improve their green concept,and promote employees to choose to engage in green behaviors;(3)Enterprise management should pay attention to the construction of environmental protection system,timely feedback and supervision of employees’ environmental protection behavior,so that the concept of sustainability can penetrate into all aspects of enterprise production and operation.
