For a long time, due to the influence of the planned economic system, the special urban-rural dual economic structure hinders rural development, with the rapid development of China’s economy, while the economic strength is enhanced,it has further deepened the problem of unbalanced development between urban and rural areas, which has an adverse impact on social stability, economic growth, rural development and other aspects,in order to solve this problem, the 2016 G20 Summit put the development of digital inclusive finance on the agenda. With the advantages of new information technology, digital inclusive finance can provide the "last mile" of financial services for economically underdeveloped areas represented by rural areas with the characteristics of low cost, high efficiency, intelligence and diversification, which is of great significance for helping rural revitalization and achieving common prosperity. Therefore, through the study of domestic and foreign literature, this paper summarizes the relevant concepts and core theories, and lays a foundation for the next research. The current situation is analyzed from the three aspects of the development history, application field and development status of digital inclusive finance, and the Thiel index is calculated to reflect the income gap between urban and rural residents, and the correlation between the two rankings is analyzed, and the negative correlation between the two is preliminarily assumed. On the basis of theory, the mechanism of digital inclusive finance on the income gap between urban and rural residents is explored from direct and indirect channels, and corresponding research hypotheses are put forward.Firstly, the regression analysis of the whole country is carried out,the panel data of 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China from 2011 to 2020 are selected to explore the main factors affecting the income gap between urban and rural residents, and then the heterogeneity analysis of each region(eastern, central, western and northeast regions)and each dimension(coverage breadth, depth of use,and degree of digitalization)is carried out,the degree of influence at different levels is studied, and finally a mediation effect model is established to verify the impact channel.Based on the empirical results of this paper, the following conclusions are drawn:1.There is a significant negative correlation between digital inclusive finance and the income gap between urban and rural residents;Second, digital inclusive finance in the eastern, central and western regions has a significant inhibitory effect on the income gap between urban and rural residents, and the degree of inhibition increases to the eastern, western and central regions, while the northeast region has a promoting effect.Third, the breadth of coverage and the degree of digitalization can effectively suppress the income gap between urban and rural residents, and the breadth of coverage has the greatest inhibitory effect, and the depth of use shows a positive correlation.Fourth, the income gap between urban and rural residents can be curbed through the influence channel of "digital inclusive financial development-optimizing employment structure-narrowing the income gap between urban and rural residents".Based on this, countermeasures and suggestions are put forward: at the national strategic level,we must first strengthen the construction of legal and regulatory systems to promote the healthy development of digital inclusive finance;Secondly,we must innovate financial service models to help rural revitalization; Then it is necessary to establish a rural credit reporting system to improve the efficiency of science and technology governance. At the local government level,it is necessary not only to strengthen government guidance and promote balanced development, but also to promote the construction of rural digital infrastructure and optimize the rational layout of rural infrastructure. At the level of individual behavior,it is necessary to expand the popularization of rural digital financial knowledge and improve the digital financial literacy of rural residents.
