Research On The Impact Of Anti Globalization On Trade Efficiency Between China And CPTPP Countries

After the subprime mortgage crisis,anti globalization has gradually stepped onto the world stage.The successive occurrence of many black swan events has further expanded the scope of anti globalization.Against the background of the intensification of the global anti globalization trend,China has made a clear-cut statement to continue to expand opening-up and actively seek to join multilateral trade agreements such as CPTPP.CPTPP is a regional high-level multilateral free trade agreement,which has attracted the attention of many international communities.In addition to China,South Korea,the UK and other countries have also made it clear that they want to join.How will the anti globalization of CPTPP member countries affect the efficiency of China’s export trade with it? How much room can these trade efficiency be improved? Under the background that China actively seeks to join the CPTPP,it is of great significance to explore these issues.Firstly,this paper analyzes the terms of CPTPP and the situation of Member States;Secondly,on the basis of combing the relevant literature,this paper finds out the theoretical mechanism of the impact of anti globalization on trade efficiency in the three dimensions of producers,consumers and countries;Then,the stochastic frontier gravity model and trade inefficiency model are used,and the reciprocal of trade freedom is used to construct the anti globalization index to measure the anti globalization level of different countries.It is found that when anti globalization is regarded as an "artificial resistance" and introduced into the trade inefficiency model,the improvement of the degree of anti globalization will significantly reduce the trade efficiency between China and CPTPP member countries.At the same time,the second-order effect trade fluctuation will also be reduced under the expected deterioration of the trade environment.However,for different types of countries,the impact is different,among which the impact on developed countries is greater than that on developing countries;It has a significant impact on the countries of common law system,but not on the countries of civil law system and mixed law system.This paper also calculates the trade efficiency between China and CPTPP member countries during the sample period.It is found that the average trade efficiency of all CPTPP countries during the sample period is only 48.30%,which has a huge room for improvement.There are also significant differences in trade efficiency between countries.In contrast,China’s trade efficiency with developed countries in CPTPP is higher.According to the results of this empirical model,this paper puts forward targeted policy suggestions and opinions,such as opposing anti globalization,deepening reform to join CPTPP,accelerating the negotiation of free trade agreement and so on.This paper not only provides a basis for China to carry out better and more targeted international trade cooperation with CPTPP member countries,but also provides theoretical guidance for China’s economy to open up new growth points.
