| The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19 th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China pointed out that it is necessary to "promote the advanced industrial foundation and the modernization of the industrial chain, keep the proportion of the manufacturing industry basically stable, and enhance the competitive advantage of the manufacturing industry","promote the deep integration of advanced manufacturing and modern service industries, and build an economic, science and technology and finance, etc.to coordinate the development of a modern industrial system.” From “manufacturing as a service”,“service-oriented manufacturing”,“service-derived manufacturing” and then“manufacturing service industry”,the investment in service-oriented manufacturing has already promoted the modernization of the industrial chain. The core of industrial chain modernization lies in the improvement of the technological innovation capability of the industrial chain. It is of great significance to study the impact of manufacturing investment in servitization on the technological innovation capability of the industrial chain to promote the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry and the modernization of the industrial chain. This paper firstly conducts a theoretical analysis of the impact of manufacturing input servitization on the technological innovation capability of the industrial chain from the dimensions of value chain and supply chain. From the perspective of the value chain, servitization is the penetration and extension of the service link to the manufacturing link. From the perspective of supply chain, input servitization promotes the integration of supply chain.Secondly, using the relevant data of the WIOD database,it measures the servitization level of manufacturing investment in 42 countries from2000 to 2014,and compares the level of input servitization in 42 countries by country, technology and industry. Then, the technological innovation capability index of the industrial chain from 2000 to 2014 was measured in 42 countries. Finally, the crosscountry panel data is used to empirically test the impact of input servitization on the technological innovation capability of the industrial chain. The main innovations are as follows:(1)This paper discusses the stage characteristics and changes of the level of servitization of manufacturing input representing the country from 2000 to 2014.(2)The evaluation index system of the technological innovation capability index of the industrial chain is constructed, and the influencing factors representing the changes of the technological innovation capability of the industrial chain in 2000 and 2014 were analyzed.(3)The research finds that the servitization of manufacturing investment has an inverted "U"-shaped impact on the technological innovation capability of the industrial chain, which promotes first and then inhibits. From the perspective of the heterogeneity of service elements,low-tech service elements have the most significant impact on the inverted "U" shape of the technological innovation capability of the industrial chain, which first promotes and then inhibits, while high-tech service elements have not shown a promoting effect. From the perspective of the heterogeneity of the manufacturing industry, capitalintensive manufacturing and knowledge-intensive manufacturing have a larger inverted "U" shape than labor-intensive manufacturing. From the perspective of the heterogeneity of national income levels, the servitization of manufacturing investment in high-income countries has a significant impact on the inverted "U" shape of the technological innovation capability of the industrial chain, but it is not significant in middle-income and low-income countries. The research suggestions: First, promote the deep integration of service and manufacturing on the premise of maintaining the basic stability of the proportion of manufacturing.Second, promote the coordinated support of elements and jointly promote the improvement of the technological innovation capability of the industrial chain.Third, relax the entry threshold restrictions on highend service elements and promote high-end service-oriented transformation.Fourth, cultivate high-quality "chain-owner" enterprises and promote high-level opening to the outside world. |
