Research On The Impact Of Digital Product Imports On The Export Quality Of China’s Manufacturing Industry

In recent years,with the rapid development of the digital economy,the global economic landscape is undergoing profound changes.Digital trade,as a new form of trade,has significant competitive advantages in enhancing trade efficiency and reducing trade costs.Importing digital products such as industrial robots and chips can both optimise the allocation of resources and allow enterprises to expand the range of products they produce and export on the basis of their original product range,thus helping them to focus more on the quality of their exported products Improving the quality of exports.How to make the best use of the technical characteristics of digital products and apply them to trade and production is an important research issue in the implementation of "innovation-driven quality development" in China.Nowadays,many scholars have already started to discuss the development relationship between digital trade and manufacturing industry.The mechanism that makes the quality of export products improve.From the perspective of empirical research,we construct firm-level panel data for the period 2000-2013 based on relevant data from the China Industrial Enterprise Database,the Customs database and the New Customs Network,and conduct empirical analysis.The core explanatory variables in this paper are digital product imports and the explanatory variables are export product quality.A benchmark model is constructed to test the findings,and robustness tests are conducted on this conclusion,and heterogeneity analysis is carried out according to the trade patterns of enterprises and the types of digital products.The empirical study shows that: Firstly,the results of the baseline regression show that the import of digital products in the manufacturing sector can improve the quality of export products of enterprises.Secondly,The results of the heterogeneity test show that processing trade and mixed trade exhibit a greater impact on the importation of digital products to improve the quality of exported products compared to general trade.In terms of trade mode,both the import of digital intermediate goods and digital capital goods have different promotion effects on the quality of export products,but the promotion effect of digital intermediate goods is more significant;Thirdly Regarding the examination of the intermediary effect,the import of digital products significantly improves the quality of export products through three channels: cost,R&D efficiency and production efficiency.Finally,based on the results of the theoretical and empirical analysis,policy recommendations are made from different subjects.
