In the context of globalization, knowledge is a key factor of production inputoutput. The higher the knowledge complexity is,the more expensive it well be to participate in the relevant field, which makes the knowledge more economic value. In the current era,for most economic entities, the momentum for their economic growth and international competitive advantage tend to depend on the output of complex tacit knowledge with high value and being non-ubiquitous.In the autumn of 2013,China outlined the grand blueprint of the “Belt and Road” for win-win cooperation firstly, and a large number of practices have been carried out.It is precisely the proposal of the“Belt and Road” that provides a good environment for the output of complex knowledge and the innovation of technology, promotes the factor of knowledge flowing freely, and drives the technological improvement and the rapid economic growth of countries participating. At the same time, with the application of complexity science in the study of economic issues,it has gradually become a hot topic to re-research on the “Belt and Road” from a more global and macro perspective within the complex network model. It is also necessary to examine the relationship between the knowledge complexity and economic growth of the countries participating in the “Belt and Road” based on the complex network model. This thesis sorts out the relevant economic research under the background of the“Belt and Road” and the current methods of complexity science firstly,so as to build an analytical framework suitable for this thesis based on current researches conducted by complex network methods. Then this thesis constructs the country-technology bipartite network based on the RCA index, adopting the data of patent volume of each country provided by the OECD database.Later, this thesis combines the Fitness and Complexity algorithm with the matrix-estimator exercise to construct the indicators of generalized knowledge complexity, then analyzes and discusses the results. In the empirical part, based on the Endogenous Growth Model and the method of IV-FEQR,this thesis discusses the relationship between the country’s knowledge complexity and economic growth;and this thesis also analyzes and discusses the effectiveness of the instrumental variables and the robustness test for the regression results;at the same time, this article conducts mechanism tests and heterogeneity analyses for the relationships between the knowledge complexity and the economic growth. Finally, this thesis makes a general summary for the results of indicators and empirical analyses, and then puts forward policy suggestions that will be conducive to the long-term cooperative development of countries participating in the “Belt and Road”.The research results of this thesis show that: There is not a direct linkage between the generalized knowledge complexity and the patent volume of a country. The generalized knowledge complexity just depends on the similarity and the specialization,in terms of the patent structure.Higher generalized knowledge complexity has a positive impact on economic growth.Improving the knowledge complexity can promote economic growth, which is in line with the connotation of technological progress being a decisive factor for economic growth.Furtherly, the proposal of the“Belt and Road” indeed do benefits for countries participating to promote their economic growth by upgrading their knowledge complexity;and there are significant spatial heterogeneity and that of expiration on patents, which can be found within the promoting effect of the knowledge complexity on the national economic growth, and actually, the outputting of complex knowledge within the short term will have a positive impact on economic growth beyond a higher level. This thesis enriches the researches on the “Belt and Road” based on the complex network. What’s more, the framework within the complex network model and empirical analyses, which based on the instrument variable fixed effect quantile regression, constructed in this thesis also provide a reference for other researches on international regional cooperations. In addition, this thesis also provides policy suggestions which would promote the construction of the “Belt and Road” and realize the long-term cooperative, and provides inspiration which would achieve further economic development and improve capability for technological innovation.
