Under the background of economy transition of China,we have already known that development of Chinese economy is now expected to shift from extensive to intensive and from high-speed to high-quality.As a result, our international trade is also expected to shift from cheap labor cost to improve the quality of export products and achieve higher value. One of which is that the added value of science and technology products cannot be ignored. This paper explores the good and bad influence of the level of agglomeration of hightech industries on the export value of technology firms in our region from theoretical and empirical perspective from the view of the micro firm level.Theoretically,by analyzing the impact mechanism,it is inferred that high-tech industry agglomeration has an improvement effect on the quality of exported products. The efficiency of labor resource allocation will promote the process of high-tech industry agglomeration affecting the quality of exported products. On an empirical basis, supporting data such as the China Customs Database and the China Industrial Enterprise Database were used, and the industry code of the "High tech Industry(Manufacturing)Classification Table" was used to identify qualified technology-based enterprises, and the quality of their exported products was calculated;Using statistical yearbooks such as the China Statistical Yearbook and the China High tech Industry Statistical Yearbook,we measured the level of high-tech industry agglomeration and the mismatch coefficient between capital and labor resources in each province. We used a fixed effects model to test theoretical hypotheses. Finally,we divided geographical regions and enterprise ownership as the basis for testing their heterogeneity. The research conclusions of this paper mainly include the following points: firstly, the clustering of hightech industries will significantly improve the quality of exported products.Secondly, the process of hightech industry agglomeration to improve the quality of enterprises’ export products will be promoted by the efficiency of labor resource allocation.Thirdly, from the perspective of heterogeneity, the agglomeration of high-tech industries is only significant for the quality of exported products in the eastern region, but not in the western and central regions;Significant only in non-state-owned enterprises, but not in state-owned enterprises. The findings of this study are helpful for local governments in China to construct high-tech industry clusters more rationally, optimize industrial spatial layout, and not only gather enterprises to achieve resource utilization efficiency, but also avoid resource allocation bloating caused by excessive agglomeration, resulting in a decrease in the marginal export quality of enterprises due to excessive agglomeration of high-tech industries. At the same time,it helps enterprises realize the convenience of enterprise cooperation and the reduction of production costs brought by industrial agglomeration. |
