The thick marine carbonate rocks spread widely in China. It is characterized by low TOC, high maturity and long geological history. There is no obvious development in the exploration of oil & gas in the carbonate strata up to now. Therefore, more works are needed for the assessment of carbonate source rocks in China. In order to evaluate the marine carbonate source rocks objectively and determine the exploration direction, it is necessary to develop new method and set up a new identification and evaluation criterion for evaluating quantitatively the effective marine carbonate source rocks. Little work has been done on the kinetics of hydrocarbon generation of the marine carbonate source rocks at present in China. Therefore, it is important to investigate and assess the carbonate source rocks for the further exploration of oil and gas resources in China. In this paper, the kinetic parameters of hydrocarbon generation from the marine carbonate rocks are calculated through kinetic simulating experiment and the quantitative models of oil and gas generation are proposed.Based on the pressurized pyrolysis simulation experiments of the marine carbonate source rocks and the isolated kerogens, the kinetic parameters of methane and C2-5 generation were determined. The result shows that the marine carbonate source rocks and the isolated kerogens exhibited very similar kinetic parameters. It is suggested that kerogen isolation to be or not to be necessary should depend on the basic geochemical data of the study sample.Through the pressurized pyrolysis simulation experiments of the marine carbonate source rocks, the evolution characteristics of gas and liquid products are discussed systematically . The results show that the kinetic parameters of hydrocarbon generation of C1, C2, C3, C4-5, C6-13 and C13+are 44-68, 65-79, 70-83, 84-95, 51-67 and 56-68 Kcal/mol, respectively. The kinetic parameters of hydrocarbon generation wereextrapolated from geological conditions by using a relative software. It indicates that gaseous hydrocarbons (Ci,C2,C3,C4.5,) generate in condition of 150°C < T< 220°C (1.0%
