The uncertainty of GIS is the hot-spot and difficult spot in the current research of GIS theories. At the present time, our country and the other countries put lots of material and financial resource into this field and gain much fruit. But most of these fruit is based on the uncertainty of random, and adopt the method based on probability and statistics. But following the understanding of the uncertainty, people find that GIS not only have the uncertainty of random, but also have fuzzy uncertainty. So the theories and methods on how to undermine and control the fuzzy uncertainty of GIS is becoming an important part of the uncertainty of GIS.The appliance of GIS also have spread accompanied the development of GIS. GIS and its products have already gone into the families and daily life from scientific research institutions. To make the products of GIS really have the markets and productiveness, the products provided with the index of reliability is a requisite factor. How to investigate the index of reliability based on the fuzzy uncertainty and have the really and scientific index plays a key role in the development of GIS.This paper has the fuzzy theory as the primary aim to study the fuzzy uncertainty in the data of GIS and the disposal, measurement of its products. The goals of this paper are: firstly, for the control of GIS's Quality, this paper adopted the method based on the fuzzy uncertainty different from the random method to have the more precise and scientific assessment of the quality of GIS and to undermine and control the fuzzy uncertainty to some extent. Secondly, to establish a set of primary theories and basic methods for the products of GIS based on the fuzzy random of reliability analysis, so the users and researchers have a satisfying and scientific reliability analysis for the products of GIS.This dissertation detailed proves the origins of fuzzy uncertainty in GIS and uses fuzzy sets and rough sets to study and deal the fuzzy uncertainty of GIS. The fuzzy uncertainty of GIS's products is embodied by the products assessment based on the fuzzy theory. So the products have a real quality and achieve the quality control. From the characteristics of GIS and its products, this dissertation puts forward a theory which uses reliability project theory combined with fuzzy theory to study the reliability to achieve the fuzzy reliability analysis of GIS and its products. This paper primarily uses the methods of triangle fuzzy number, terrace fuzzy number and fuzzy fault tree to analyze the reliability for GIS and its products.The main outcome of this dissertation as the follows: (1) systematically summed up and analyzed the disposal of GIS based on the random uncertainty, retraced the former cognition for the uncertainty, put forward some relative conception on uncertainty, analyzed the random uncertainty origins in GIS, concluded the theories and methods on random uncertainty disposal and point, line and area three entity general situation in GIS.(2) Deeply studied the fuzzy uncertainty in GIS. Primarily from the four aspects of the components of GIS: the hardware of GIS, the software of GIS, the data of GIS and personnel of GIS, specified proved the fuzzy uncertainty existed in GIS, analyzed the origin of fuzzy uncertainty in GIS, and proved by illustrations.(3) Studied the denotation of fuzzy uncertainty entities, primarily to study the denotation of point, line, and area three fuzzy entities, and study fuzzy entity property.(4) studied the relation between random uncertainty and fuzzy uncertainty. Although random and fuzzy have substantial difference, these two aspects aren't divided and have closely connection.(5) Studied the fuzzy uncertainty disposal based on fuzzy sets theory: firstly, from the familiar entity attributes in GIS, use membership to deal fuzzy uncertainty disposal. Secondly, from fuzzy language in GIS, to research by fuzzy reasoning.(6) Studied fuzzy uncertainty disposal of GIS based on the rough sets theory, analyze the phenomenon of rough sets in GIS by examples, simply introduced the operation of rough sets in GIS, and analyzed the use of rough sets to deal with fuzzy uncertainty by instances.(7) Deeply studied the quality assessment of GIS products by fuzzy theory. On the groundwork of the analysis about the existed problems of the presented assessment methods in GIS products, put forward to use fuzzy theory to assess the quality of GIS product. The dissertation mainly studied common principals of membership select and grade determination of GIS products quality assessment, and use three methods: fuzzy relation, fuzzy multi-layer synthesis, and rough sets to instance analysis of GIS quality assessment.(8) Discussed methods of GIS quality control: mainly put forward the concept of multi-scales analysis of GIS products and the thought and method of use rough sets in GIS quality control.(9) Primarily established the basic theory of GIS fuzzy reliability analysis. The paper mainly analyzed the reason for use fuzzy reliability project in GIS, analyzed fuzzy reliability of GIS, put forward some basic concepts and basic models of fuzzy reliability of GIS.(10) The fuzzy reliability analyze of GIS: mainly use triangle fuzzy number and terrace fuzzy number basic reliability model to analyze reliability of GIS.(11) The fuzzy fault tree analysis of GIS: mainly introduced the basic theory of fuzzy fault tree, and use it in reliability analysis, introduced the analysis steps, and done the analysis by instances.
