This dissertation takes marine environment information integration as the main research object and the main aim is to solve the grammar heterogeneity and the semantic heterogeneity problems which occur in the procedure of information integration. To construct an effective frame and the method system for marine environment information integration, this paper carries on the research about marine environment data integration based on data warehouse, marine environment data processing methods integration based on component and Web Services respectively, and marine knowledge integration based on ontology according to the integration level and order from data to knowledge, from grammar to semantics, from the PC, local area network to internet. Based on the research achievement, new generation of MAGIS (Marine and Atmospheric Geographical Information System) has been researched and developed. The main contents and innovations in this dissertation are summarized such as:1) The research on marine environment data integration based on data warehouseMarine environment data has intense heterogeneity, which have many aspects of manifest and causation. This dissertation proved that data warehouse technology can solve data heterogeneity problem in marine environment data integration. Marine data warehouse function structure model has been designed and marine data warehouse ETL tool which can extract, translate and load marine data has been developed. As a practice, marine environment data warehouse has been established based on the model and the ETL tool.2)The research on marine data processing method integration based on componentsUsing component technology to integrate the marine environment data processing method, such as data management, spatial-temporal analysis and visualization, can improve the capacity and degree of methods reuse. Because of such domain characteristics that software development requirement in marine scientific research is not clear and coupling between function modules is low, fully considering technology advantages of the high component encapsulation and reuse,"parallel development, independent integration"software development model has been established, which can provide guidance throughout the process of the development and integration of function modules in marine domain. As the practice of integration of methods of reading marine data, according to the development model,"Marine Data Unified Reading Middleware"and it's desktop platform system have been researched and developed, which can provides marine researchers a tool that can read a variety of data file formats data, import to and export from many kinds of relational database intelligently, and provides marine developers a plug-and-play component library.3) The research on marine data processing methods integration based on Web ServicesUnder internet environment, some new requirements are proposed for marine environment data processing methods integration and reuse, such as, RPC through Web and interoperability, publishing and finding in net easily, cross-firewall communications, wholly irrelevant with position, platform and language and so on. In order to satisfy these requirements, this dissertation discusses the basic principles of web services and the adaptability of Web Service based marine data processing methods integration in internet environment. As a practice,"Marine Information Integration Network Service Platform"based on Web Services has been researched and developed, which integrated data management, spatial-temporal analysis and visualization methods. The platform provides the internet users with the online data service, spatial-temporal analysis and visualization services and provides the internet developers web services which can be called remotely by web.4)The research on marine knowledge integration based on ontologyKnowledge Integration is the highest stage of information integration, and the most important problem of knowledge integration is semantic heterogeneity problem. This dissertation discusses in-depth the necessity and feasibility of integration of marine knowledge and solve semantic heterogeneity problems based on ontology, explores the contents and methods of marine knowledge based on ontology. Finally, a preliminary practice has been carried on.5) The development and research on the new generation of MAGIS prototype system based on integration ideaBased on the above achievement, a new generation of MAGIS prototype system has being developed. In the new generation of MAGIS, the integration idea is further strengthened, and the data, methods and knowledge are seamless integrated; the MAGIS product system and product structure are refined, on the basis of the previous version for PC and LAN , expansion of the Internet version and the development version; such key technologies as transform of the spatial resolution , hybrid programming, multi-dimensional and dynamic display model, multi-threaded, multi-level cache, and so on have been melted into new generation of MAGIS.
