Ultrafme powder plays important roles in modern industry based on its peculiar advantage and characteristic properties. Ultrafine grinding is a new pulverizing technology in order to adapt to the developing demands of modern technology. High and new technology development proposes very pressingly to output, quality and industrialization of ultrafme powder. With rapid development of modem industry and medcine science and the saturation of subjects, applications of the pulverizing technology in Chinese traditional medcine are paid more attention. The preparation of Chinese traditional medcine tend to fine particle, high medcine effect and little dosage, the pulverizing technology just fit in with the demands.Using the high frequency shaked mill and airflowed pulverizer, a few different Chinese traditional medcines(radix notoginseng, pearl, kuding-tea) are superfinely grinded. Process and characteristic of ultrafine grinding and more effecting parameters to the product properties are studied hi detail in this paper. The results show that besides structure diversity of grinding machines, the properties, feeding quantity, partile size and water content of materials and grinding time have influence on their ultrafine grinding. For the high frequency shaked mill, its grinding process is dynamic balance phase which includes rapidly changing one, slowly changing one, balanced one and reversed one. Medium filling rate(70%) and once-feeding quantity(200g) are choosed. Partile size of materials has a little influence on the grinding efficiency. The effecting mechanism of water is analyzed. Water content of pearl has no influence on the grinding efficiency, but water content of radix notoginseng and kuding-tea has obvious influence on it, and both are separatly dried to water content(5%,4%). 15.02 u m(dso) radix notoginseng powder, 6.31 u m pearl powder and 11. 75 urn kuding-tea powder are prepared with the high frequency shaked mill. Because of its strongly-cut action, high grinding effect of kuding-tea which contains plant fibre is attained, but grinding of radix notoginseng which contains starch is relatively difficult. SEM photograph indicates that ultrafine powder of Chinese traditional medcine take on wide particle sizeIIIdistribution, little fine powder and particle shape which is lumpish, and its grinding mode is volume grinding one, which go with externally grinding one. For airflowed pulverizer, since its structure is relatively complicated, and the effecting factors to ultrafine powder is more, first of all, the grinding process parameters are optimized, and the most excellent process conditions are obtained. The optimum feeding pressure is 4 x 105Pa. The optimum spraying pressure is 8 x 105Pa. Moreover, the ratio of gas to solid in grinding process is also important effecting parameter, which is controlled by adjusting feeding speed. The results show that the feeding speed of radix notoginseng and kuding tea is 1.5kg/h, and one of pearl 2.0kg/h. The water content of radix notoginseng and kuding tea is dried to5% or 4%. The feeding particle size take on direct proportion to the product size. 4.20um(dso) radix notoginseng powder, 3.24um pearl powder and 7.72 um kuding-tea powder are prepared with airflowed pulverizer. Radix notoginseng and pearl are ultrafinely grinding. SEM indicate that Chinese traditional medcine powder size distribution is narrower, the content of fine powder is higher and the particle shape is similar to sphere. Its grinding mode is combined volume grinding one with externally grinding one.The dissolving-out of effective compositions of ultrafine powder of radix notoginseng and pearl is studied in this paper. The experimental data of dissolving-out amount and rate are collected to analyze its changing rule and characteristic.The data are analyzed recursively by the way of linearity. The dynamics model of the dissolving-out is established to validate experimental data, and the dissolving-out characteristic is explored.
