With the speed-raising of the vehicle, the lateral ride quality turns worse while the vertical ride quality can be basically adapted with the high speed, and the limitations of the passive suspension system turns to be more and more obvious. Adopting active suspension system and semi-active suspension system is the effective approaches to improve the lateral ride quality. Considering the situation of our country, the latter is better than the former. However, the reaserch of the control algorithm on the active suspension system can accumulate experience for the research of semi-active suspension system. In this thesis, to counter for signal measurement, the driving and amplification of the control signals, the dynamic delay of the executive organ, the structure complexity of the vehicle and the track for semi-active suspension system, some researches have been done as follows:1. The dynamic mathematic models on each link (or sub-system) of the lateral suspension system are given in the thesis, i.e., the 17 degrees lateral model of the whole vehicle and 3 degrees controlled CARIMA model of the half vehicle are given for resolving the contradiction between the precision of the model and the complexity of the controller. The transfer function model between the input and the output channels of the semi-active suspension system is set up by combining theoretic modeling with experimental modeling.2. A new "trigonometric series scheme based on the frequency sampling" is proposed to simulate the track irregular signal. By simulation, the proposed scheme can be realized more easily and is more precise than the traditional scheme, in addition, the irregular amplitude at the designated frequency can be got easily.3. The traditional spectrum analysis is used to analyze the relationships among lateral, rolling and yaw vibrations that affect the lateral ride quality of the vehicle, the analysis shows that yaw vibration is the main factor that affects the ride quality.4. A degree-of-satisfaction based optimizing algorithm subject to the...
