In these research, the recombinant adenovirus vector containingLMP-1 gene was prepared;the primary culture of human degenerative NP cells in monolayer was successful by an enzyme assimilation method;the results demonstrated innovatively that the LMP-1 gene can be expressed in human degenerative NP cells continuously and abundantly, and stimulated the production of intervertebral disc matrix (proteoglycans) as well as important anabolic cytokines (BMP-2 and BMP-7). It would break a new path for the gene therapy of intervertebral disc degeneration;the reseasch firstly analyses quantitatively the changes on the LMP-1 gene in the development of degeneration of intervertebral disc, by using a animal model of intervertebral disc degeneration, which brought forward new considerations on the pathogenesis of intervertebral disc degeneration.
