| BackgroundThe metabolic syndrome(MS) is a cluster of risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD) that includes hypertension,hypertriglyceridemia, low levels of high-density lipoprotein,insulin resistance, and obesity. Different diagnostic criteria for this syndrome have been suggested .On the basis of the fact that obesity is reaching epidemic proportions in most parts of the world, the new epidemic of CHD related to obesity and MS is likely to impose an unprecedented global burden of cardiovascular (CV) disease (CVD). Although the precise reason for the global epidemic of obesity and MS has not been established,there is general agreement that environmental factors and changes in lifestyle are major contributors. It is thought that common changes in people's behavior, which lead to consumption of high-calorie, refined food in association withdecreased levels of physical activity, are largely responsible for obesity and MS. Because of their strong association with CVD, both obesity and MS are major public health problems.Aged people are high-risk group of metabolic syndrome. TCM have conclusive therapeutic efficacy, however ,there are little report on effect and mechanism of TCM.we conduct this study to erect a rat model of metabolic syndrome and to explore therapeutic effect and its mechanism of pure traditional chinese medicine(TCM) Daixiean from the level of cell , molecule and gene.Objetive1 To estabolish and evaluate MS rat model .To investigate the pathophysiology character of MS and its detriment neuron, microvessel by the way of neuron, microvessel apoptosis and auto–compensation angiogenesis, serum inflammatory cytokine of aging rat .2 To appraisal the therapeutic efficacy of Daixiean on Aged MS rat and its detriment neuron, microvessel .3 To clarify the molecular biology molecule mechanism of Daixiean by using a set of study and research including inflammatory reaction, microvessel basement membrane and neuron cell apoptosis .
