Dendritic cells (DC) play a pivotal role in the induction of immune responses, and they are present in tissues as a trace type. Utilization of a continuous cell line as accessory cells for studying the functions of DC would be advantageous because of the homogeneity of cell line and the availability of large numbers of cells for biochemical analysis. DC is very important in transplantation, protective T-cell immunity, auto-immunity, HIV-1 infection and so on. On the other hand, DC has intensive motility and special migration patterns from tissues to lymph then to lymph nodes or to blood then to spleen after being stimulated with antigens, like somewhat of cancer cell invasion and metastasis.
