In order to search for biologically active compounds from rich Chinese plant resources and make full use of them, the chemical constituents of Chinese special plant Cunninghmia lanceolata and traditional Chinese medicine Magnolia denudata were studied.23 compounds were isolated from Cunninghmia lanceolata. Six are new compounds including three rare bislabdane - type diterpenoids and three labdane diterpenoids. They are (4R, 5S, 9S, 10R) - 8 (17), 12,14 - labdantrien - 19 - oic -acid (1), (4R, 5S, 9S, 10R) - 8 (17), 12, 14 - labdantrien - 19 - ol (2), lanceolatic acid (3), lanceolatin (4), lanceolatol (5), 15 - nor - 8 (17), 12 - labdandien - 14 - 18- dioic acid (6). The known compounds include 14, 15 - dinor - 8 (17) - 11 -labdandien - 18 - one (7), 15 - nor -14 - oxo - 8 (17), 12 - labdandien - 18 - ol (8), 13 - S - hydroxy - 8 (17), 14 - labdandien - 18 - oic acid (9), hinokiol (10), 3(3 -acetoxy - 8, 11, 13 - abietatrien - 12 - ol (11), 7 - oxo - 8, 11,13- abietatrien - 12- ol (12), 12 - hydroxy - 8 (14), 15 - pimaradien - 19 - oic - acid (13), 7 - oxo - 8, 15 - isopimaradien - 18 - ol (14), kaemferol (15), 1 -docosanoic acid (2, 3 -propanediol) ester (16), 1, 2 - docosanoic acid diester - propanetriol (17), 30 -hydroxy - stigmast - 5 - ene - 7 - one (18), stigmast - 4 - ene - 3 - one (19), β - D -galactopyrano - stigmast - 5 - ene (20), β - sitosterol (21), daucosterol (22) and (p- hydroxy - benzoic acid) (23). Their structures were identified by spectroscopic methods and chemical reaction. Furthermore, CD and X - ray diffraction were employed to resolve the absolute configuration.20 compounds were isolated from the Chinese traditional medicine Magnolia denudata including 16 lignans which belong to 6 structual types, a.
