Objective:To evaluate testicular spermatogenetic function of patients with non-obstructive azoospermia, and to search for correct parameter to predict an accurate diagnosis of testicular recovery prior to testicular biopsy, and to investigate the genetics effect and the influence on patients with non-obstructive azoospermia(NOA). Methods:Fifty azoospermic patients and 30 normal fertility males were included in the study. 34 patients of them were non-obstructive and 16 of them were obstructive(OA).All were submitted to sperm analysis, hormonal assay (serum FSH, LH, testosterone, and prolactin), genetics and ultrasonography. Power Doppler ultrasonography was used to guide testicular biopsy to assess spermatogenetic function for 34 cases with NOA and 5 with OA. The pathologic findings were divided into five categories: (1) normal spermatogenesis, (2) hypospermatogenesis, (3) sperm maturation arrest, (4) Sertoli cell-only syndrome, and (5) tubular sclerosis. Hypospermatogenesis was defined as the presence of seminiferous...
