Hearing reconstruction is an important method to solve the problem of air-conduction hearing loss, while Semicircular Canal Occlusion is a effective surgical technique to treat benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV). The surgical technique of tympanosclerosis and otosclerosis is a formidable part of Ossicular reconstruction. The surgical technique and the factors which affect the postoperative hearing result need further study. There are lots of studies on operation of semicircular canal occlusion, most of them are only in the field about auditory evoked response and its hearing results have no frequency-specific. We develop the surgical technique to treat tympanosclerosis with Partial Ossicular Replacement Prosthesis(PORP) and otosclerosis with Teflon piston, its postoperative hearing results are satisfactory. In order to produce the exact size of Teflon piston, guinea pigs were operated by small fenestra stapedotomy, its hearing levels were measured by auditory brainstem respons (ABR) . After semicircular canal occlusion in quinea pigs ,the hearing were masured by multiple auditory steady state response (MASSR) . This series of experimental and clinic studies have important effectiveness to clinic work.Chapter IEffects of ossicular reconstruction with Partial Ossicular Replacement Prosthesis(PORP) in patients with...
