Two kinds of water soluble fluorescent monomers, 4-methoxy-N-(2-N',N'- dimethyl -N'-allylamino ethyl)-1,8-naphthalimide ammonium chloride (FM) and 4-methoxy-N-(3-N' N'- dimethyl - N'-allylamino propyl) -1,8- naphthalimide ammonium chloride (4-MNDMAPN-AQ), were synthesized. The structure of the products was characterized by IR, ~1H NMR, MS and elementary analysis. The optimum reaction conditions were obtained by experiments.FM-MA-AA, 4-MNDMAPN-AQ-AM-AA, F-PAM were prepared by copolymerization of fluorescence monomers with maleic anhydride(MA), acrylic acid(AA) and acrylamide (AM), respectively . The copolymerization rule was studied and the optimized conditions were obtained.The fluorescent spectra of the copolymers were investigated. The results showed that the excited and the emitted wavelength of the copolymers containing fluorescent monomer were the same as those of the monomers respectively. The fluorescent performance of the copolymers was evaluated. The effects of pH, the change of concentration of NaClO and 1227 and the sunshine time on the fluorescent intensity were surveyed. The results showed: The fluorescence intensity of the polymer (FM-MA-AA) was constant at pH=5~8 and the fluorescent intensity of polymer(4-MNDMAPN-AQ-AM-AA) was constant at pH=7~10. The general used inhibitors had no influences on the fluorescent intensity, and to some extent, the oxidants and sunshine time would cause the fluorescent intensity weak. The calibration curve for the determination of 4-MNDMAPN-AQ-AM-AA was linear over the range from 1 mg·L-1 to 10 mg·L-1, with the detection limit for 4-MNDMAPN-AQ-AM-AA of 0.5 mg·L-1.The fluorescence intensities also accorded well with the concentration of FM-MA-AA with the low limit of 0.64 mg·L-1 over its linear range.By means of bubble, precipitation and pH shift, the performance of scale inhibition was researched, and the results were compared with HEDP, PBTCA, HPMA and PAA. Taking scale inhibition as the criterion, the optimum reaction conditions for polyepoxysuccinic acid (PESA), polyaspartic acid (PASP), polyether polyamine methylene phosphonates (PAPEMP) were obtained, and the scale inhibition was also investigated. The scale appearance and structure message from XRD and SEM revealed that PESA and PAPEMP had strong effect on both dispersion and lattice distortion of CaCO3.
