Objective and significanceThe prevalence of allergic disorders such as allergic rhinitis (AR) has increased so drastically over the Past two-three decades accompanied by growth of medical science and Economic development throughout the world. Allergic Rhinitis has been a global health problem. To help increase worldwide awareness of allergy related problems, The World Health Organization(WHO) and The World Allergy Organization (WAO) has declared July 8 as World Allergy Day in 2005 years.Allergic Rhinitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that is caused by atopsy individual contacting allergen by IgE in nasal mucosa with mediators of inflammation(major histamine)and many kinds of immune competent cell and cytokines. Its major symptoms is nasal blockage, nasal scratching, rhinorrhea, sneezing, which is in relation with specific mechanisms disorder. To study the functional mechanism of variant xiaoqinglong decoction to treat AR, we have AR and variant xiaoqinglong decoction studied in theory and experiment under the following parts.Method and content 1,The status of the study of the xiaoqinglong decoctionIt is stated about the study of xiaoqinglong decoction syndrome and the summary of clinical and experimental study of xiaoqinglong decoction. We concluded that the effect of the xiaoqinglong decoction, which is dipersing wind and cold and warming and activating yang and reducing morbid fluid retention, conforms partly to the fundamental pathogenesis of AR.2,The status of allergic rhinitisIt is rounded up thoroughly about the knowledge of name of disease of AR, cause of disease and pathogenesis and the status of treatment and experimental research in TCM. We put up with our viewpoint that morbid fluid retention due to deficiency of yang and qi is basic pathogensis and the fundmental method of treatment is reforcing Qi, warming and activating yang and reducing morbid fluid retention.3,Model and intervention.Allergic rhinitis group was immunized by intraperitoneal injection and intranasal instillation of Ovalbumin (OVA). There were six groups:control group (group A), model group (group B), Loratadine group (group C), large-dose, medium-dose and low-dose Xiaoqinglong decoction groups (group D, groupE), and every group were administrated continuously for 14 days. During the intragastirc administration, the symptoms of guinea-pig such as itching, sneezing and rhinorrhea were observed on the 7th and the 14th day.4,The pathological changes of nasal mucosa were observed and the concentrations of OVA-sIgE in serum were detected by the ELISA method.5,The statistical analysis of experimental data.SPSS 13.0 statistical software was used for statistical analysis. Measurement data with mean±standard deviation (x±s) described before and after treatment using paired t test, each group compared with one-way analysis of variance (One-Way ANOVA). When a significant difference was revealed (P<0.05).Result1,After 7 days of administration, the times of itching, sneezing and rhinorrhea decreased significantly comparing with group B (P<0.05). After 14 days of administration, the times of itching, sneezing and rhinorrhea of guinea-pig in all administration groups decreased significantly comparing with group B (P<0.05), and the decreasing degree was group D>group C>group E2,Compared with group modal group, the degrees of the inflammatory cell infiltration and the edema of every Xiaoqinglong decoctions group were reduced, and the concentrations of OVA-sIgE of group D and group E decreased significantly (P<0.05).Conclusions1,Xiaoqinglong decoction has prominent antiallergic rhinitis effect. And there is dose-effect relationship.2,Xiaoqinglong decoction could antiallergic rhinitis effect through reducing the inflammatory infiltration and the antigen-antibody reaction.
