Objective:Chemokines, functions as a inflammatory mediator, an adhesion molecular, may play cruial roles in the development of adeno-myosis. Therefore, we investigated the expression and localization of CXC16protein and its receptor, CXCR6, in the adenomyosis, to explore the function of CXCL16/CXCR6axis in the pathophysiology of this disease. Methods:We performed immunohistochemistry (SABC) to detected the expression and localization of CXCL16, CXCR6protein in adenomyosis (29cases) and in normal myometrium (28cases).Results:1.Both CXCL16and CXCR6were found expressed in the ectopic endometrium and myometrium of adenomyosis, and strong stained by endometriotic epithelia cells and stromal cells, but not or weak stained by normal myometrium.2. The expression of CXCL16, CXCR6in ectopic endometrium and myometrium of adenomyosis were significantly higher than those of normal myometrium, with the positive rate of CXCL16and CXCR6expression is82.76%and93.10%in adenomyosis, while28.57%and32.14%in the myometrium. There is an obvious differences between the two groups.3.There was a positive relationship between the protein expression of CXCL16and CXCR6in adenomyosis (r=0.678, P<0.01) Conclusion:1. The expression of CXCL16and CXCR6in ectopic endometrium and myometrium of adenomyosis were significantly higher than those of normal myometrium, which indicates that CXCL16, CXCR6may be involved in the development of adenomyosis.2. The expression of CXCL16and CXCR6work coordinately to promote the development of adenomyosis.
