Objective To study the clinical therapeutic effects and discuss on the treatment mechanism of oligospermia infertility with kidney deficiency type treated with acupuncture combined with Chinese herbal medicine. Methods 100 patients of oligospermia infertility with kidney deficiency type were randomly divided into three groups, 40cases of the treatment group treated with acupuncture combined with Chinese herbal medicine, 30cases of the control group I treated with acupuncture and moxibuston and another 30 cases of the control group II treated with Chinese herbal medicine. Results 9 cases were cured, 20 remarkably improved, 8 improved and 3 uncured in the treatment group with a total effective rate of 92.5% and improving rate of 72.5%, while in the control group I, 4 were cured, 8 remarkably improved, 14 improved and 4 uncured with a total effective rate of 86.7% and improving rate of 40%; In the control group 11,2 were cured, 7 remarkably improved, 16 improved and 5 uncured with a total effective rate of 83.3% and improving rate of 29.9%. Statistics shows that there are significant difference between treatment group and control group I, II, (P<0.05). It indicates that the therapeutic results of the treatment group are superior to that of the control group. Conclusion Acupuncture combined with Chinese herbal medicine has good results in treating oligospermia infertility with kidney deficiency type. The mechanism is as follows: with stimulation of acupoints and the continuous effect of the herbs, it can not only improve the blood circulation of the reproductive system to relieve inflammatory edema, canalize the vas deferens, regulate and improve the physiological function of the endocrine system, but also can promote the growth, development and activity of the sperms to reach the goal of producing enough and good sperms to become pregnant.
