The formation of "phlegm cumulating ", according to many researchers and medical scientists, could be attributed to the unbalance between "chi" and blood in human organs, as well as an inefficient metabolism of the essences from diet intake. The formation and accumulation of phlegm could be caused through various channels, such as, exteriorly through six kinds of disturbances, interiorly affected by emotional variations, physically abused, abnormal living habits, may lead, directly or indirectly, to the disease. From the point of view of Chinese medical science, the disease has its phase of development, including the balance between ying and yang, time of development, condition of the body organs as well as their interactions among each other. In clinical practice, the prevention of the phlegm accumulation, its control and inhibition is significantly important in treating the disease. As said in "Jin-Guai principles" that, the principle of mild treatment should by applied in this kind of disease. Such principle is in line with another truth that phlegm is on the yin's side, its cure should be on the yang's side. The spleen and kidney are where the development of phlegm start, and, lungs and stomach are the storage vessel of phlegm. The famous ancient physician "Jong-Jin" described his philosophy in treating such diseases as mildly alleviating the yang to digest the cumulated phlegm.
