Confucianism takes as "the Sage" as the highest ideal of character, the purpose of giving lectures is to be a Sage, the purpose of self-cultivation is also to be a Sage, so Confucianism is a school of "Rising from the Common". In response to the competitive Buddhism, for the development of Confucianism "Theory of Mind and Nature", Zhu xi takes "Mind and Principle" as his core proposition, takes it as the difference between Confucianism and Buddhism, and shows Confucianism than Buddhism.Zhu Xi advertised that the Buddhist "Mind and Principle "and Xiang Shans "Mind is Principle" are different from his own "Nature is Principle", and the former looks like one heart and principle, its essence is the mind and the principle completely in two. There is "Principle" in Xiang Shans "Mind", there is "Principle" in Zhu Xis "Mind", while there is no "Principle" in the Buddhist "Mind", which is the fundamental difference between Confucianism and Buddhism. "Mind" is subject to "Principle" to guide the specification, that is, the "Principle" masters "Mind", or "Mind" masters "Principle" is the dividing line between Zhu Xi and Xiang Shan, it is also the reason why Zhu Xi critics Xiang Shan and Buddhism. There is no "Principle" in the Buddhist "Mind", therefore it do not count as "Principle" masters "Mind", or "Mind " masters "Principle". This is the second difference between Confucianism and Buddhism. The third distinction between Confucianism and Buddhism is whether the "Mind" can be purified in secular activities, the Confucianism answer is yes, and Buddhism answer is that only leaving from the secular to purify the mind. Therefore, Buddhism is the school of leaving the secular, while Confucianism is the school of"Rising above the Common ".Thoughts of "Mind and Principle" has a long intellectual tradition, from Confucius "I act without transgressing the Way" to Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi "Principle and Mind" has merged into the long "Theory of Mind and Nature" river. Zhu Xi adopts historical nutrition and at the same time develops Confucianism "Theory of Mind and Nature". In his view, Confucianism and Buddhism have the difference of "Principle" and "Principle II" because of Confucian emphasis on "One Heart ", while Buddhism advocates "Two Heart".Confucianism considers that the "Mind" has "Ti" and "Yong", "Nature" is the "Ti", "Passion" is the "Yong". Though Buddhism takes "Mind" to be "Nature", takes "Passion" to be "Mind", so they confused and upside down the relationship of "Ti and "Yong". The "Nature" of "Mind" is "Principle", so Confucianism "Mind has the function of learning, "Mind" itself is the contents of knowledge, it is the unity of "Nature" and "Passion". Thus Buddhism seeks peace by leaving secular, Confucianism achieves "Happy" by standing aloof the secular. In other words, Confucianism can achieve the supreme personality of "Principle and Mind" in real life.In Zhu Xis thoughts, "Mind plays a role of bridge between "Principle" and "Nature", "Mind" is the key to learning, through the cultivation of "Han yang" and "Qiong li", one can merge "Mind of the Way" into "Mind of Man", search the Sage of nature and Principle.
