This thesis conducts a comprehensive phonologic study to Gaoyang group YueDialect(GGYD), based on the predecessors' datum and more my own first-handeddatum. We firstly describe and explain synchronic mutual features, similarities anddifferences of each dialect phonology synthetically and minutely. Secondly, weconclude the phonological evolution processes, rules and mechanisms of GGYD andeven more dialects, through comparing and observing diachronic datum, other dialectsand GGYD.There are there chapters in this thesis.Chapter1is the introduction. It introduces geographical and historicalinformation in Gaoyang group's area, the researches of GGYD, and the purpose, theresearch value, methods and detum of this study.Chapter2is the phonological features of GGYD. We describes the features ofinitials, finals and tones, and indicates the phonological similarities and differences ofeach dialect in GGYD in this chapter. Simultaneously, we compare GGYD with otherYue dialects appropriately.Chapter3is the special topics of phology of GGYD. There are six topics in thischapter. The first one is the diachronic evolution of initials of Jing(精), Zhi(知),Zhuang(庄) and Zhang(章); the second one is the diachronic evolution of ancientvoiced initials, and the principle of distinguishing the groups; the third one is thediachronic evolution of Xiyin(细音) syllable of initials of Ri(日), Yi(疑); the fourthone is the mechanism of lack of pursed-mouths; the fifth one is the uncertainly ofraising of open vowels after medial [i] through observing the Dang group(宕摄); thesixth one is the diachronic evolution of nasal and plosive rhyme finals.The end is the conclusion. It includes the summary and the shortage of thisthesis.
