Polysemy is the essential characteristics of language and one of the basic properties of natural language. Language has different levels of and various forms of polysemy. The ambiguity in the statement comes from the language of symbols, and it also serves the natural language. The intricacy, richness and subtlety of a language can often be reflected in the polysemy. For example, secondary use of the metaphor, the semantics of supernormal collocation, puns, some clever answer in the language and jokes are all related to the polysemy.Polysemy is an important part of semantics, and has received much attention in cognitive linguistics in recent years. The study on polysemy is very mature in Russia, mainly from the perspective of lexical semantics, syntax, semantics, cognitive models, lexicographer, and machine translation, all of which plays a significant role in the study of the context. Compared with the study on polysemy in Russia, the study in China still lacks enough attention, which doesn't meet the important role of polysemy in language system and the function in language expression. Therefore more research and exploration in the area is needed. The research focuses on the analysis and study of the ambiguity of the language in accordance with the theory and concept in semantics and the methodology of integrated descriptive principle of Moscow Semantic School. Moscow Semantic School is one of the three major schools of Russian semantics studies, and its ideas, theories and principles are the latest in the world. The integrated descriptive principle proposed by Moscow Semantic School makes extraordinary contributions to the description of the language meaning and has become one of the principles of contemporary linguistic research. The paper is divided into five chapters. Chapter One is about the investigation of the ambiguity in the language, analysis of the development and status quo of polysemy at home and abroad, and discussion of the central and key issues in the area. The second chapter illustrates the semantic content and its structure of polysemy, analyzes a variety of elements in the semantic information, summarizes the types of similar meanings of polysemy, and specifies the division and sorting principles of the polysemy lexeme with specific examples. The third chapter discusses the impact of the semantic relations of lexical units on the semantic change, the discipline of the meaning development and the mechanism of the formation of the polysemous words, connotations of the polysemy, the characteristics of regular polysemy and its relationship with semantic derivation; The fourth chapter elaborates the semantic continuum problem of polysemy, introduces ideas and methods of restoration and construction of the problem of the Moscow Semantic School, and compares it with the cognitive linguistics.Chapter Five studies the function and application of the ambiguity in the use of the language, the routine use of ambiguity and foreign language learning difficulties accordingly, and the solution in accordance with the relevant theories and principles of the Moscow Semantic School, the ambiguity and puns in language due to polysemy, and the different ethnic languages reflected by the polysemy.
