| Paintings recovered from Hidden Library Cave in Dunhuang is the drawings and paintings on silk, linen, paper, and other materials. It is a complement to Mogao mural and contains works from7th to the10th Century. Inscription and other writings on it are just as important as inscription of the Grottoes and Manuscripts. Because of Dunhuang silk paintings'great academic value, from the beginning of20th century there are a large number of foreign scholars to join its research work. These treatises, articles have great significance in exploring the art of Dunhuang and even the Buddhist art.This academic history paper is a complete comb of both foreign and domestic scholars' various academic activities around paintings recovered from Caves17of Dunhuang. Overall, this paper has three breakthroughs:The first step is to collect basic research material. This paper has a comprehensive statistics on Dunhuang paintings which have been published.Gather paintings catalog of published, paintings on Dunhuang documents, paintings are preserved in the Domestic and foreign libraries and museums and scattered in some private collection, a total of more than1700. This paper brings the academic achievements of domestic and abroad scholars together.The second step is to restore the academic activities. The scholars' research on paintings recovered from Hidden Library Cave of20th century is divided into two phases:1900-1949for the first stage;1949-2000for the second stage. This paper discourses on the two stages of domestic and foreign scholars' academic activities. This paper points out the influence of British Chinese painting study as Dunhuang paintings preserved in British Museum, and different attitude when Sino-Japanese scholars face the paintings recovered from Dunhuang. Chinese scholars has published painting catalog in the first phase, they actively went overseas and academic exchanges, to be the most active participants of paintings recovered from Dunhuang research.The third step is to summary research achievements according to objects. According to the collection form divided paintings into two categories to demonstrate academic progress. In summary of a number of small issues, this paper solves the related objects first, and also makes a summary of Dunhuang paintins. Set in the research mentioned above, this paper, based on the summary of research results, clarifies the academic development context. The last chapter briefly discusses the general trend and the research which is focused on paintings recovered from Dunhuang.On the basis of the three steps mentioned above, this paper is going to complete review of the research history of paintings recovered from Dunhuang, and also to understand the progress and development of the research work of paintin products, at the same time to provide a reference for scholars to study Dunhuang paintins even Dunhuang Art. |
