Studies On The System Of Kinship Words In Shanxi Dialects

Shanxi province is located around the middle of the Yellow River and on the east of Loess Altiplanto. Its northern Great Wall borders on the Inner Mongolia Automomous Region. Its exceptive location results in the diversity and complexity of kinship terms in Shanxi dialect.This article is based on the comprehensive investigation on 106 kinds of kinship terms throughout the province and description their distribution in detail. Meanwhile we study these kinship terms from different view of point. On one hand, according to the difference of kinship terms we summarize the distribution of each kind; On the other hand, as far as the system of kinship terms in Shanxi dialect is concerned, we sum up some characteristics.On the base of plain description, we also compared some kinship terms with Yue and Gan dialects. In addition, we have discussed the change of some kinship terms at the angle of history development. The complexity and diversity of kinship terms in Shanxi dialects offer us lots of precious documentaries to study the contiguity as well as amalgamation between languages or dialects further.
