This dissertation includes a preface and three chapters. The preface. Firstly I introduced the reasons why I selected this topic and the significance of doing this research. Then I contributed a brief commentary on the researching history and the present researching situation of Wei Chuang. In addition,I described the researching purposes, methods and the major creative viewpoints of this dissertation.Chapter I. Getting through inquiry into Wei Chuang's life and his ideology, I discussed three significant problems.First,I differentiated and analysed some biographical notes on Wei Chuang. It was believed that Wei Chuang had been lived in Guozhou before Guangming Turmoil took place, but in my opinion, the time that Wei Chuang moved his residence to Guozhou is between the fourth year of Xiantong (A.D.863) and the eighth year of Xiantong (A.D.867),and he lived in Guozhou for about ten years. Then I discussed the problem of Wei Chuang's greeting the emperor in Chencang.I think it is true that Wei Chuang had done that, but the aim was not to go to Changan to adivise Prince Xiang to ascend the throne under Zhou Bao's orders ,but to seek a government post for himself .What's more, the exact route of his coming to Changan and going back home was inquired in this chapter. The last,I investigated the identity of Aide-de-camp Xue in Wei Chuang's poem To Aide-de-camp Xue in a Snowy Day.I think Aide-de-camp Xue is not Xue Neng, but Xue Ting-gui.Second,I divided Wei Chuang's whole life into three stages - the stage of seeking knowledge and taking examinations, the stage of seeking asylum and wandering and the stage of being a government official after passing an imperial examination.Third,I observed the editions and the circulation of You Xuan Ji,and studied the distinguishing features of its selecting poems.By checking You Xuan Ji against Ji Xuan ]i,l drew some conclusions about Wei Chuang's literature ideology.Chapter .In this chapter I mainly studied Wei Chuang's poetry .First,I closely observed the origin and development of the editions of Wei Chuang's Huan Hua Ji. There were 20 volumes in the original edition of Huan Hua Ji,but some of them weremissing and could not find in Nansong Dynasty .The ten-volume-edition which was reprinted by Chen Qi in Nansong Dynasty became the master copy of all kinds of block-printed editions. There were 249 poems in the edition, but the first three volumes lost at the beginning of Qing Dynasty. The seven-volume-edition had been found in Jingjia Hall of Japan in the early part of the 20th century.Zhu Cheng-jue was the first scholar who began to gather the missing poems of Wei Chuang during the years of Zhengde in Ming Dynasty (He added two poems ).With the addendum work of Hu Zhen-heng,Mao Jinji Zhen-yi and Chen shang-jun,now we can find 322 poems and 3 couplets of Wei Chuang.Next,I discussed his poems' themes approximately in four ways.In his poems he showed great solicitude for current affairs,he was always concerned with the common people's hard life,he longed for his lovely home so much/and he expressed his sadness when he couldn't find a master who appreciated his talent. Third, from the angle of Qi L(?)'s development in Tang Dynasty,I thoroughly analysed the artistic style and its origins of Wei Chuang's Qi L(?).I think his Qi L(?)'s principal style is elegant and delicate. He often used the plain structure pattern because what he wrote was mainly about his daily life. He was carried away by his own emotions when he wrote,so it is not easy to find any ratonal thoughts in his lines. The language style of his Qi L(?) is simple, smooth and refined. The artistry of his Qi L(?) originated from Du Fu.Last of all, proceeding from the cultural origin of the image of the setting sun,I discussed why Wei Chuang liked the image so much.Chapter .On the Ci Poetry of Wei Chuang. I put forward a new interpretation to a line in Wei Chuang's Pu Sa Man-- "so wonderful sights and sounds of Luoyang's spring" in this chapter.Wei Chuang wrote this Ci in a spring after he had built a thatched cottage in the...
