The Fifteen Factor Questionnaire Plus (15FQ~+) is a relatively new, normative, factor-based measure of personality, first published in 2000 by Psytech International Limited(UK). Statistics from international practices show that 15FQ~+ can guarantee the same high reliability and validity in personality measurement as those measured by Cartell and it enjoys more superiorities than 16PF. Users familiar with the 16PF series can easily transfer their test interpretation skills to this new instrument. As an alternative to the 16PF series of tests, 15FQ~+ has been widely used throughout the world and has become a widely influential questionnaire with good application prospect, especially in occupational assessment, personnel selection and the study of cross-culture personality differences. Cooperating with the Psytech International Limited(UK) from 2003, we have translated the original 15FQ~+ to Chinese in simplified character, revised some items and tested their reliability and validity with 2,000 undergraduate participants to provide the practical manipulation manual of the Chinese version 15FQ~+ for the occupation assessment, personnel selection and the study of cross-culture personality differences.Taking the Chinese undergraduates as the participants in this study, we first investigated the reliability and validity of the Chinese version (simplified character) 15FQ~+ by means of approaches such as internal consistency, test-retest reliability, content validity, criterion validity and construct validity etc. Secondly we made a personality comparison among the undergraduates from Oxford, HongKong and Xi'an using 15FQ~+(original), And then, we separately assessed the personality differences with Chinese version 15FQ~+ among the official and non-official cadets from military university and undergraduates from civil university, between undergraduates of grade 1 and grade 4, and between airman and ground crew from several airbases. The main results of this study were as follows:The internal consistency coefficient(Cronbach's a) of Chinese version 15FQ~+ was 0.61-0.81. The test-retest(4 weeks interval) reliability coefficient was 0.64~0.85(P<0.01). And there were significant correlations on all dimensions between the original 15FQ~+ and Chinese version 15FQ~+. The criterion-related validity showed that all the dimensions of the Chinese 15FQ~+ exactly represent the sixteen personality traits, which was consistent with the original 15FQ~+ and the conclusions of the study abroad. The factor analysis on the 200 items showed that the max and sub-max loading on the main factor were 75.0%~91.7% and 8.3%~25.0%, and there were only six items beyond our expectation. The differences on English(CET4, CET6) of Xi'an undergraduates had little influence on the scores of the original 15FQ~+, and the factor B and I may had positive correlations to the learning ability of Xi'an undergraduates. There were significant differences on the primary personality factor between Chinese and Britain undergraduates. The personality differences ofundergraduates between Oxford and Xi'an were more than those between Xi'an and Hong Kong. The Britain participants showed higher than Chinese on extroversion, openness and independence, and Chinese participants showed higher than British subjects on introversion, pragmatism and agreeableness. The participants of Hongkong showed higher anxiety than the others while the participants of Xi'an showed higher self-discipline than the others. There were significant differences on 12 factors of Chinese version 15FQ+ among the official cadets and non-official cadets from military university and undergraduates from civil university. The personality of non-official cadets showed much higher level in intelligence, more emotionally stable, dominant, conscientious and suspicious than that of others. The personality of undergraduates from civil university showed more tender-minded and radical than that of others. The personality of non-official cadets showed more socially-bold than that of official cadets, and more restrained and self-disciplined than that of undergraduates from civil university. The personality of official cadets showed more self-sufficient and self-disciplined and less enthusiastic than that of undergraduates from civil university. There were significant differences on 5 factors of Chinese version 15FQ~+ between undergraduates of grade 1 and the grade 4 of military university. The personality of grade 1 showed more radical than that of grade 4 and the personality of grade 4 showed much higher intelligence, more conscientious, suspicious and self- disciplined than that of grade 1.The personality of airman showed more dominant and less tender-minded and self-disciplined than that of groundcrew. The personality...
