Witold Lutoslawski(1913-1994), is an outstanding Polish composer in the field of twenty century music and one of the most important figures in the Polish School. Limited aleatorism which was put forward and practiced by him is the foundation of the style of his mature period. His distinctive style has influenced extensively their emergence, coexistence and development of different music sects after the Second World War. His works obtain an important position in the twenty century music.Making a comprehensive view, Lutoslawski's creation of the mature period was revealed by a series of orchestral works which reflecting his strong personality. The dissertation will mainly analyze some important compositions of Witold Lutoslawski (including some of the early compositions) that could represent the style of his mature period from the angle of technique, and study the technique of Limited aleatorism that is used for these essential factors (such as pitch, rhythm and harmony, counterpoint) and analyze the technique peculiarity of the orchestration and the features of the musical form.The dissertation has five parts. With the foreword, the first part mainly introduces the life of Lutoslawski and the formation .and the development of his creation style. The part two to the part five, the main body of the dissertation, is discussing about the harmony, the texture, the orchestration and the form by analysing the examples. At last, the author sums up the peculiarity and the style of the mature period of Lutoslawski and shows his own ideas and opinions.
