Based on theory of to study history the job of textual research and historical materials distinguishing should first be done, this thesis has just finished the textual research on historical materials of Jin-Shi, which means the successful candidates in the highest imperial examinations, in Jiang-Xi province of Qing Dynasty. It consists of two main parts, the introduction and the text.The introduction is about the theories of this thesis, which is divided into four sections according to the five chapters of the text. The first section talks about how it was compiled and used of several name list books and reference books on Jin-Shi in Ming and Qing dynasties, which are The First Collection of the Block-printed Copy of the Inscribing of Jin-Shi on the Stone of the Country's Dynasty, the Block-printed Copy of the Inscribing of Jin-Shi on the Stone of Ming and Qing Dynasties, An Enlarged Edition and Index of the Block-printed Copy of the Inscribing of Jin-Shi on the Stone of Qing Dynasty, Index of the Block-printed Copy of the Inscribing of Jin-Shi on the Stone of Ming and Qing Dynasties. It also discusses the wrong use of four books by some scholars and holds that the textual research job should first be done while studying the relationship between ancient talent and regional society in Ming and Qing dynasties. The second section is about the printing errors on native place and name of Jin-Shi in four books, and reason is also discussed. The third section is about the printing errors on the records of the highest imperial examination in the Province Gazetteer of Jiang-Xi Compiled in Guang-Xv's Time. This thesis points out that as one of the two Jade Gazetteers in north and south China, there are six kind of compiling errors in the Gazetteer. The forth section is about the printing errors on Jin-Shi of Jiang-Xi province in Qing dynasty in other books.The text consists of five chapters. The first chapter is about counting the Jin-Shi in Qing Dynasty all over the country, and about counting the Jin-Shi in Jiang-Xi province, which are exactly the two sections of this chapter. As to the first section, eleven books are used to study the total number of Jin-Shi of Qing Dynasty, seven of which only has the numbers of each highest imperial examination, the other four have both the numbers and the name and native place and place of all the candidates. 26849 is thought to be the true amount of Jin-Shi in Qing Dynasty. The second section talks about counting the Jin-Shi of Jiang-Xi province in Qing Dynasty, and 1885 is thought to be the final number. Some comparison is brought forth between this thesis and other scholar's research.The other four chapters of the text are all the textual research on printing errors about Jin-Shi of Jiang-Xi in Qing dynasty in all kinds of historical materials.The second chapter is about the printing errors of Jin-Shi's native place of Jiang-Xi province of Qing dynasty recorded in four name list and reference books of Jin-Shi in Ming and Qing dynasties. Four section is consisted in it, which are correction of the printing errors on 56 Jin-Shi's native place, supplement of 29 Jin-Shi's native place of Qing dynasty who had different native place in Jiang-Xi province, supplement of 226 Jin-Shi's native place whose first native place was in Jiang-Xi and second native place in other province, and supplement of 5 Jin-Shi's native place whose first native place was in other province and second native place in Jiang-Xi.The third chapter of the text is about the printing errors of Jin-Shi's name of Jiang-Xi province in Qing dynasty, also in the four name list and reference books of Jin-Shi of Ming and Qing dynasties. It also consists four sections. The first is correction of the printing errors on 41 Jin-Shi's name. The second is supplement of 92 Jin-Shi who had two or even more names during he took part in the imperial examinations. The third is supplement of 5 Jin-Shi who had two surnames. The forth is two Jin-Shi who were lost in the part of index in Index of the Block-printed Copy of the Inscribing of Jin-Shi on the Stone of Ming and Qing Dynasties, But sill recorded in the part of block-printed copy of the inscribing of Jin-Shi.In the forth chapter of the text, we focus on the printing errors in the record of imperial examination in Jiang-Xi Province Gazetteer. It consists of five sections. The first section is about Jin-Shi's native place, who had different native places but just one of them was recorded. The second is correction and supplement of printing errors of Jin-Shi's name in Jiang-Xi province in Qing dynasty. The third is about two kind of Jin-Shi in the province gazetteer, which named the Ming-Tong-Bang Jin-Shi and the reworded Jin-Shi. They were not real Jin-Shi but just some kind of honor given by the emperor. The forth section discusses the time when a candidate came into being a Jin-Shi. The fifth discusses one kind of candidate who was like a Jin-Shi, which means he was recorded as a Jin-Shi in the province gazetteer but was not really a Jin-Shi.The fifth chapter of the text is about the correction of the printing errors about Jin-Shi in Jiang-Xi province in Qing dynasty recorded in other books, mainly, the province gazetteer of Jiang-Xi compiled in 1947, the prefecture and county gazetteers of Jiang-Xi province, Collection of Zhu-Juan in Qing Dynasty, books of people's name as officials, and curriculum of officials.As the first doctoral dissertation of the textual research one by one on Jin-Shi of single province and of single dynasty, this thesis attempts to find a new model to study the imperial examination and Jin-Shi group. Surely, the main fruit of this dissertation is all the words of 300,000, which are mainly of correction and supplement. But, this dissertation has also some defect, because some other historical materials had not been looked up. Sometimes, it should result in an uncertain conclusion even a wrong conclusion. Deeper research will be continued aftertime. We also expect more grant instruction and correction from the experts.
