Love is always the motif of the social life.It's also the topic which can being for ever in the literary world. The same emotion which comes from love will arose the same feeling of the ordinary people all aroud the world. Sri Lanka and China both have been praised as "poetry country" in the world. Love poems occupy a special position in the history of both countries. But the culture and history's differences owe to the different contents and styles of love poems. In this Paper, the author tries to make a comparative analysis of the similarities and differences in the love poetry of China and Sri LankaIn the first chapter, I introduce the history development of the classical love poems, containing the analysis about contents and the characters. The Chinese classical love poems started from the Book of Song while Sri Lanka scribbled the first love poems on the mirror wall of the ancient rock. They both collected the folk song and that became the outstanding tradition in history. But in China, the Confucian culture and in Sri Lanka, the Therawada Buddhist culture each exercises a great influenced on love poems. In China, Love poems always revolved around the family. There are many poems describing the missing and nostalgia to wife written by man. They often based on the society or real life and styles changed according to the society poetical background. In Sri Lanka, the history of Sinhalese poems is inextricably linked with the history of Buddhism. After the introduction of Buddhism to the island in the 3rd century B.C. the monasteries developed as the centres of intellectual activity, and the monks became the custodians of that intellectual tradition. From the Kotte period (15th century) until the late 19th century we see a decline of Sinhala poetry such as War poems and Message poems (sandeshas) modelled after Kalidasa's Meghaduta.In the Second chapter, we introduce the modem love poems in China and Sri Lanka. The process of the development of the modern poem can be referenced by seeking of the freedom of nation and the self-consciousness about the realism. These developments both take more than half a century. The inimitable selfhood and the characteristic of the age made the love poem as a revolutionary millstone.
