Through researching the feast background, the thesis discusses the gist and relationship between the banquet and formal entertain poems and banquet ceremony. The thesis is divided into six parts.The preface firstly emphasized the significance of studies on the banquet and formal entertain poems, and in the foundation of briefly reviews on the banquet and formal entertain poems, it points out the achievement and questions of current research. There are mainly two questions, one is the gist of poem, the other is relationship between the banquet and formal entertain poems and banquet ceremony.The first chapter discusses the banquet ceremony. The banquet and formal entertain poems are product of banquet ceremony, so the research of feast background is the basic of deeply reaching the banquet and formal entertain poems. The chapter points out the relationship and difference between formal entertain and banquet, and sum up seven different characters. In addition, there is kinsfolk drink ceremony which lay special emphasis on relatives.It is basis of researching the banquet and formal entertain poems that discussing formal entertain, banquet and kinsfolk drink ceremony. There are lots of such kinds of poems in the Book of Songs, which is the key of the paper. This chapter centre on the poems assigned by "zheng yue "of "yili.yanli" to discuss the gist of poem and the relationship between banquet poems and banquet ceremony. According context of poems and ceremony, this chapter research the gist of poem and the relationship between banquet poems and banquet ceremony. Banquet poems have different function such as praising ceremony, praising things, congratulating on birthday and comforting. In addition, some other poems reflecting wine and dine are discussed by this chapter. Though those have different ceremony function, all kinds of banquet poems work for enhancing harmonious of sovereign and minister. It was embodied by contrasting with kinsfolk drink poems that banquet poems emphasize on harmonious of sovereign and minister.
