| There are tons of studies about Song Xue before, with different views. However, few of them focused on the perspective of institutional history to analyse the academic transformation during Tang and Song dynasty and the formation of Song Xue. This dissertation which based on institutional history, analysed the formation and transformation of Jingyan system (a system for the emperor to study canon and history) of Song dynasty in detail, as well as its transformation of function, selective standard of staff and the teaching contents. Additional, this dissertation studied how officials use this institutional method, which is about interpreting the canons and history, to express their own opinion about politics through the teaching and influence the final decision. The purpose of this dissertation is finding an institutional basis for the formation of Song Xue, through revealing how the interpretation of canon and history related to the historical background that time, and how it developed with the history of dominant teaching together. |
