This paper aims at analyzing Zhu Xi's thought upon I Ching by textual researching into his annotations' meanings and origins. Zhu Xi's ideological system upon I Ching was a unique one in Song Dynasty, which considered I Ching was a fortune book at first. Zhu Xi tried to integrated different ideas into one uniform system, which including philosophy of principle and mysterious and complicated theory of emblems and numbers. The discourse includes four chapters.In Chapter One, the author has a historical review of the research on Zhu Xi's ideological system upon I Ching and show the necessity of a philological research into Zhu's annotations on I Ching.In Chapter Two, the author analyzes the structure and main principles of Zhu Xi's ideological system upon I Ching, and discusses the three characteristics of Zhu's annotations on I Ching. Zhu Xi considered I Ching was a fortune book at first, and he widely consulted different annotations on I Ching in the long history. Also Zhu Xi's annotations on I Ching are cyclopedic.In Chapter Three, the author analyzes the lost stylistic rules and layout of Zhu Xi's annotations on I Ching.In Chapter Four, the author analyzes all Zhu Xi's annotations on I Ching form the etymological point of view. Through these textual research, we will deeply realize Zhu Xi's thought upon I Ching.
