Research On The Poverty And Anti-poverty Of Dongxiang Ethnic Group

The poverty which has annoyed human society has already been a general and urgent problem of the society and economy development of each country at present. In our country, poverty problem has been a great barrier which prevents social construction from being harmonious, The phenomenon especially existed in the ethnic groups in northwest China. Poverty and anti-poverty is an important research topic which is always concerned by academic circles home and abroad. In the new process of society development, more attention should be given on research on poverty and anti-poverty problem of ethnic people such as Dongxiang ethnic group. It is undoubtedly significant in reality and theory. This dissertation is based on the developing economics and new institution economics theory and takes Dongxiang ethnic group who live in Dongxiang Ethnic Group Autonomous Count, Linxia Hui Ethnic Group Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province as research object, and the current poverty condition of Dongxiang ethnic group is analyzed from the viewpoint of ethnologist and sociology in the dissertation. The author thinks that the poverty of Dongxiang ethnic group is not only income poverty but also human poverty,meanwhile ,the author further discusses and analyzes the cause of income poverty and human poverty from institution aspect. The dissertation elucidates the work of poverty alleviation guided by government in many years and analyzes response of relief-oriented poverty alleviation and effect in the stage of Dongxiang ethnic group poverty alleviation work made by institution reform. The author researches into the performance and problem during the process of carrying out the development-oriented poverty alleviation model in the Dongxiang ethnic group areas, further analyzes and points out the institutional cause of the low effect of the development-oriented poverty alleviation model.Therefore, the author concludes that the suitable institution is not only fit for local hard environment but also fit for local soft environment—informal restriction. At last the author points out that developing path of Dongxiang ethnic group poverty alleviation is to construct the new model which is put more attention on human poverty alleviation instead of income poverty alleviation, and the author emphasizes that poverty alleviation institution should be suitable to the local traditional Islam culture so as to improve the active effect of poverty alleviation.
