The moral education curriculum has undergone an incessant change and development since its introduction.After having analysed the teaching programmes of the moral education curriculum in different periods after the foundation of the People's Republic of China, this dissertation concluded: a) from the perspective of teaching plan; the forstering of successors has shifted to that of moral people; the weight layed on fostering high-minded man has gradually given way to fostering qualified citizens, b) the categorization of main teaching points shows such stable value orientation and defects: the concept of moral value based on collectivism; the concept of moral value based on obligation; the neglect of fostering social ethics; deviated form the students' real life; Moreover, the development of the idea of moral education in this period reflects in the following: the focus on moral life has changed from the subject's outside moral life to his inside one; the forstering of successors of perfect has shifted to the fostering of qualified citizens.After having analyzed the seven complete sets of textbooks , this dissertation concludes: a) logically, textbooks should be designed according to the moral logical knowledge "what, why, how", b) the models in textbooks reflects these ideas: the concept of moral education of creating elites; the concept of perfecting people; distinct consciousness of social base; male-dominant culture.c) there are some value orientations underlying in the narration: the students have not been regarded as the subjects of free moral activities; morality has not been understood as a kind of practical wisdom; humanity has been set in a simple and plane way; the children's moral world has been simplified.The study on the quality and quantity of the teachers of moral education curriculum reflects the following problems in the moral education curriculum in practice: a) the big moral mode of moral education curriculum, the political and knowledge orietation have made this curriculum highly dependent, lack of distinct subject curriculum, b) the moral education curriculum is the Cinderella in primary and middle schools.x) the practical effect of the moral education curriculum is not desirable.The new curriculum first requires the teachers to conduct the students to morality and requires them to change to a real moral teacher from traditional subject teacher. Second, the new moral education curriculum should be taught in the real and open class. The teaching and listening class should be changed to a class with conversation and interaction. Third, the success of reform in curriculum bases on the reform in assessment system. It is very important to study how to free the moral education curriculum from the function oriention of qualifying examination and to improve the students' moral study through the assessment process.
