With the advance of space technology and information technology, especially the rapid development of GIS, remote sensing technology and GPS technology, variety of multi-scale, massive and real-time earth observation data, including the earth and its environment and social phenomenon can be quickly obtained. The acquisition and update of global spatial data provide a powerful data support for global digital engineering such as dynamic monitoring, early forecasting, data mining and other sustainable development research in all walks of life. However, most of these data are stored in electronic data warehouses, there’s no information supply department including the current government agencies or research institutes can meet the comprehensive needs of geographic information resources in the world. The root of the problem lies in the traditional spatial information technology failed to help resolve the spatial resources effective integration and sharing in full, although Web GIS can share parts of the spatial imformation resources to a certain extent, but after all, the ability is limited.On the problem of spatial information sharing, Li Deren academicians pointed out suitable fundamentally research for the basic theory and methods of the spatial information sharing is necessary, thus a complete set of system framework include the organization and management, display and express, sharing and service of space information must be presented, and which is different from the present space information system. Gao Jun academicians think that the geographical spatial data is important for scientific exploration and survival geospatial, geographic and spatial information is the important foundation of new knowledge discovering, how to make full use of the original environment and platform to create a new platform for information service is very important.In view of the advantage of grid technology in the distributed management scheme, the study combined it with spatial information technology, put forward spatial data organization management and scheduling method based on multi-grid, built a integration and sharing platform for the global geographical spatial information, not only to achieve the rapid retrieval and high share of information resources under the grid environment, more attention should be paid to the huge amounts of data organization and management integration for the maximum limit to reduce data redundant construction, promoted the data flow, fusion and the overall value of spatial information resources. The main work in this study can be concluded as follows:(1) Global spatial information multi-grid platform construction according with the characteristics of our country. The study analyzed the domestic and foreign classic spherical grid subdivision scheme, according to the basic principles of the global grid subdivision and combined with the characteristics both of our country and the current domestic data characteristics and standards, a global spatial multi-grid partition method is proposed. And on this basis, the digital model of global spatial information multi-grid is established.(2) Organization and management model research on large area massive geographical spatial data. According to the characteristics of the global geographical spatial data, the study put forward the management model based on global spatial information multi-grid platform by the analysis of the deficiency of previous data management solution, and made a systematical and profound researches on collection, organization, storage and index method of grid resources based on the mode.(3) Research on key Technologies of fast scheduling and browsing display for global massive spatial data. A reasonable and efficient mechanism of spatial index was designed to improve the retrieval efficiency of large area and huge data. At the same time, the research proposed a dynamic scheduling mechanism of global massive spatial data, which maximum limit reduced the burden of memory and improved the effect and fluency of the real-time display of the spatial data.(4) Research on the designing, developing and application instance of global spatial information multi-grid prototype system. The research analyzed the digital lightning in the deficiency of the current information management solutions taking lightning spatial information management and service for example, and did the lightning spatial information multi-grid prototype system of overall architecture, background database system and the function module design and development in detail according to the actual demand. Through example application, the related basic theories and key technologies of system was tested, which provided reference for kinds of project application based on global spatial information multi-grid in the future.All in all, the basis theories and key technologies of global spatial information multi-grid were analyzed and discussed from various aspects such as the grid division, coding design, neighborhood search, positioning conversion, data organization, query retrieve and scheduling display and so on, and built global spatial information multi-grid prototype system which conforming to the global standards and the domestic characteristics. Thus provided a unified integration and sharing platform for dispersion, multi-source and heterogeneous, heterogeneous and huge amounts of spatial data in the world, and provided an effective data to support for global change, location-based services and geographic system science and other related research.
