Research On The Inheritance Of Academic Experience Of National TCM Master Tietao Deng

ObjectiveThe research on inheritance of famous old traditional Chinese physicians has attracted great attention within the field of TCM nowadays.The research on National TCM Master’s inheritance has become the research hotspot after the recognition of the first National TCM Master in 2009. Famous old traditional Chinese physician is a special phenomenon of TCM, a famous old traditional Chinese physician is able to teach a group of new famous traditional Chinese physicians in a relatively concentrated area, thus forming a "famous traditional Chinese physicians team". Academic team with the core of a famous old traditional Chinese physician has gradually formed a new style of academic school. It is urgent to carry out the research on the academic heritage and academic evolution of National TCM Masters.At present, there are various research perspectives on National TCM Master Tietao Deng and his team, but it’s not enough on the research on academic heritage and academic experience of Tietao Deng.The research is based on collecting and sorting out their academic materials, objectively present the academic heritage of Tietao Deng and his academic team, discuss their inheritance and academic evolution, analysis their most distinctive academic area. Through these studies to record their academic history, reveal their academic achievements, provide reference and inspiration.Method1. Literature research:ineluding literature searches, collection, identification, collation, compilation, etc.2. Theory review and analysis:ineluding professional method of Doctrine of Traditional Chinese and Chinese Medical History.3. Persons interview:Through interviews with relevant scholars to obtain fresh historical data, to make up for the lack of literature alone.4. Data statistics:ineluding frequency statistics and data mining.ResultThe study is divided into four parts:the first, collecting academic materials of Tietao Deng and his academic team; the second, researching on the inheritance of Deng Tietao’s academic experience;the third, studying on the Tietao Deng’s inheritance of academic experience in the diagnosis and treatment of myasthenia gravis; the fourth, writing the geneology of Deng Tietao and summing up its’inheriting Characteristics.1. Drew up the inclusive criteria and exclusion criteria of academic materials, the final collection of academic materials are as follows:248 papers, 42 academic writings,1 academic writing that the first author signatur is not "Tietao Deng" but acturelly is written by Tietao Deng,18 other relevant academic books.Verify the member list of Tietao Deng’s academic team, including 60 members, then collect their academic materials to show their academic fields. According to these, the study discuss the inheritance and academic evolution of 7 academic fields, including:theory of five viscera correlation, theory of Piwei, Chinese medical history, Lingnan medical, Diagnostics of TCM, diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular diseases, and diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.2. For the theory of five viscera correlation, Tietao Deng put forward some original academic viewpoints and research ideas, construct the basic theoretical framework of the theory of five viscera correlation. Tietao Deng’s students conducte a multi-dimensional study in this framework, enrich more substantive academic contents, and partly demonstrate its authenticity and academic. The theory of five viscera correlation is a revision of the theory of the five elements, a kind of scheme in order to solve the nowaday’s clinical problems, also a modern language expression of the theory of TCM five elements.For the theory of Piwei, Tietao Deng focus on the understanding from the view of clinical practice. These practices also enrich applicable rang of the theory of Piwei in modern clinical. The clinical practice and scientific research of gastroenterology dept. with the theory of Piwei is the major form of inheritance of Tietao Deng’s theory of Piwei. Shaoxian Lao is the representative of the study of the theory of Piwei in Tietao Deng’s academic team.For Chinese medical history, Tietao Deng emphasizes the guiding of historical materialism and clinical practice, and pay most attention to the research of Modern history of TCM. For Chinese medical history, Clinical view of history is the most representative academic characteristic of Tietao Deng. Tietao Deng’s students focus on Modern history of TCM, Overseas history of TCM, and construction of Museum of TCM.For Lingnan medical, Tietao Deng and his team insist on researching Lingnan medical by traditional literature research methods, has become the main academic team which focus on Lingnan medical, their academic achievements are the theoretical basis of all the Lingnan medical research, no matter clinical research or experimental research.For Diagnostics of TCM, Diagnosis in Traditional Chinese Medicine edited by Tietao Deng established the discipline paradigm of modern Chinese diagnostics. Tietao Deng’s students made a systematic study on the subject of the neglect area of traditional Chinese medicine diagnostics, and made Diagnosis in Traditional Chinese Medicine edited by Tietao Deng can reprint again and again.For diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular diseases, from the theory aspect, Tietao Deng and his team created a distinctive academic characteristic, that is using the theory of five viscera correlation to diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular diseases. From the clinical practice, Tietao Deng and his team are nationally known experts in the treatment of myasthenia gravis and myasthenia gravis crisis.For diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, from the theory aspect, Tietao Deng and his team created a distinctive academic characteristics, those are using the theory of five viscera correlation and Qi-Deficiency with phlegm and blood stasis to diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.3. Tietao Deng consider that the TCM pathogenesis of myasthenia gravis is deficiency of Piwei and correlating five viscera, the treatment law is strengthen Pi and benefit vital Qi. Tietao Deng’s students continue his academic style, and form their own characteristics in their long-term clinical practice.It reflects the Tietao Deng’s academic experience of diagnosis and treatment of myasthenia gravis has a new development in the inheritance.According to 133 myasthenia gravis cases of 44 famous old traditional Chinese physicians’, the study shows that the TCM pathogenesis of myasthenia gravis is deficiency of Pi and Shen, the treatment law is tonifying middle-Jiao and Qi, and using large dosage of Astragalus, all of these are the mainstream understanding of famous old traditional Chinese physicians on myasthenia gravis.Based on f i eld research, collecting academic materials of the domestic main TCM teams whom are treating myasthenia gravis, including Shanghai’s Genghe Li, Beijing’s Kunqiang Huang, Zhejiang’s Changlin Qiu and Hebei’s Guayan Qi. The results show that each team has its own advantages and characteristics such as integrating medical resources, improving TCM theory, establishing the research echelon.Through contrastive analysis, the study consider there are three characteristics of Tietao Deng’s treatment of myasthenia gravis:firstly, using the theory of five viscera correlation to diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular diseases;secondly, using a lot of Linnan’s herbal;thirdly, accumulating a lot of valuable experience of myasthenia gravis crisis’ rescue by combining TCM and western medicine treatment.4. According to all above, the study arranges the academic geneology which take Tietao Deng as the core.ConclusionTietao Deng’s team achieve the continuity and progress of the academic by researching and clinical practicing together. Tietao Deng often plays a leading role in the research, opens up a number of research areas, points out the research direction and constructs the basic framework of the research, and most of the concrete research content is completed by Tietao Deng’s students. For the depth and breadth of research, Tietao Deng’s students have a breakthrough than Tietao Deng, make multiple research directions become hot research topics in the academic field, and has a good clinical effect. Currently Tietao Deng’s academic team still need to do a good job of academic heritage, especially for theory of five viscera correlation, and diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular diseases.
