Huang Bao Years With Taigu School Study

In modern times,the Taigu school of thought had spread in Jiangsu,Anhui, Shandong and other areas for more than100years.It is generally believed that the Taigu school of thought was one of the typical cases of popularized and religionized Confucian school. In consequence of the secret nature of the school of thought, its real face had not been understood by the mainstream academic circle for a long time. The Taigu school had many kinds of religious names due to its all sorts of mystical colors. This dissertation is expected to explore the origin, the nature and development vicissitude process of this school of thought, to analyze it from academic, to the religion, to arrive at the academic unique evolutionary process again, and reveal its nature:it was an academic school, also a religion, finally belonged to the academic nature. This dissertation has emphatically discussed the status of Huang Baonian, the important successor of Taigu school of thought, in the history of school and his ideology with his own characteristics. This dissertation will also present the research conclusion:as a result of the successful transformation of the Taigu school by Huang Baonian,that enabled the school of thought to get rid of mystical and the secret nature finally,that completed evolutionary process from the religion to the academic, that caused the school of thought to be accepted day by day by the then society,and to be accepted as an Confucian school of thought by the academic circle,and that established its unique status in the modern philosophy history.Chapter One of the dissertation mainly elaborats the dissemination of the Taigu school of thought. This chapter is expected to conduct a systematic analysis to the origin of the thought of the Taigu school, and clarify the relations with other series of schools of thought and the religious belieives such as the Confucianism,the Buddhism and the Taoism in the history. On the foundation of the clarification in its thought origin of the school, further studies will be make to illutrate the nature question of the Taigu school. Since the Taigu school of thought had the long time-intervaled features, which led to the different sub-thoughts in the different development phase,it is natural that this dissertation will make the gradual analysis to its nature by stages. Therefore,the present paper will attempt to take the Taigu school of thought folk religious nature as the analysis angle of view, to study its history which developed under the different social environment condition evolves, and further discover the interactive relations of this school of thought to the society, and to the politics.Chapter Two mainly elaborats the key status of Huang Baonian in the mergence of the Northen and Southen Branches of Taigu school of thought. This chapter first will review the biography of Huang Baonian, to find out the unique context in which he grew up as a scholar.The experience of Huang Baonian, his being converted the Taigu school and serving as a government official for a long time had the material effect on his life thought development. The impetus to the mergence of the Northen and Southen Branches of Taigu school of thought and his management of the Guiqun Cottage was the greatest contribution of Huang Baonian to the thought history of Taigu school. The reason why the Taigu school of thought could revive in the early-20th century was that, Huang Baonian’s successful organization leading ability, and thought guidance to the school of thought had made the most important contribution.Chapter Three main elaborates inheritance and revision by Huang Baonian to the thought of the Taigu school.In the process of impetus to North and South Branch of Taigu school mergence and management Guiqun Cottage, to the thought of Taigu school, he had developed the Confucian content and discarded the mystical aspect, and caused the religious appearance of the school to have a qualitative change,and caused it to be accepted as an academic community by the society.Because of social environment vicissitude and the thought revision by Huang baonian to the school of thought, Taigu School also had the differentiation in thought aspect. Under the situation of this school having the unity formally, it presented several thought branches. This chapter has made the analysis separately to the internal ideological difference of the school of thought, in order to clarify overall characteristics of the school thought development.Chapter Four and Chapter Five mainly elaborates the thought of Huang Baonian. In these two chapters,author has made detailed researches and analysis on the Confucian classics thought,the ethical thought, the political thought, the literature thought and the education thought of Huang Baonian. Because of mainly Huang baonian’s moral philosopher’s standpoint,legitimate Confucianist’s thought occupied his main idea. As a result of his school background and unique family background, experience, his thought had his own characteristics.In the conclusion part, author has formed the judgment on the nature of the Taigu school of thought, has given an appraisal of status of Huang Baonian and the Taigu school of thought in the modern thought history, has emphasized prominently the function of Huang Baonian in the transformation process of thought characteristics of the Taigu school. In this dissertation, author thought that the Taigu school of thought as one modern folk Confucian school, carried on a process of religionization and politicalization. Its characteristics of folk religion was very obvious, and its features of mystical color thick. After a bitter experience with brutal disaster, successores of Taigu school of thought walked a return distance, retreated from the political development and the religious development, regressed to the academic development in its primary appearance. Thus, Taigu School had obtained the acknowledgment of mainstream society and the school of thought revived after a destruction nearly. Huang Baonian inherited and developped the thought of the Taigu school, however he had his own thought characteristics. The thought pursuits of Huang Baonian had established his status in the Chinese thought history. As a thinker, Huang Baonian practiced his creed personally. Huang Baonian was an outstanding Confucianist in modern times.
