This thesis is the comparative study on798Art District in Beijing, China and the Insadong Cultural District in Seoul, Korea, and meanwhile the follow-up study on798Art District. With the two art districts as the object of study, this thesis, starting from multiple angles, conducts the field investigation including case study, interview and questionnaire respectively, and interprets the two districts theoretically and endows them with certain significance. During the comparative study on798Art District and Insadong Cultural District, I adopt a study method mastering from the overall level, focuses on the subject of all interrelations in these two districts, i.e."human", and conducts comprehensive study and analysis on the characteristics of these two districts. In the aspect of architectural structure, this thesis pays more attention to the experiences, mentality and such levels of the users. Especially the "landscape" reappears as a kind of cultural visual image with the symbolic values in the sensation level based on human bodies, while "space" is studied through the individual experiences brought about by senses of various body movements. The two categories of "landscape" and "space" are the core arguments of this thesis.First of all, the798Art District and Insadong Cultural District are both constructed on waste plant buildings and mechanical equipments. The Korean traditional houses and antiques on the streets of Insadong make use of the old things maximally, continuously try to conduct symbolic practice through the reappearance of the landscape, and propagate themselves by various symbols and images. The two concepts of "margin" and "tradition" are reappeared obviously by the symbolic strategies functioning on the landscapes of these two districts. The symbolic meaning connects with the core problems of contemporary art history of China and South Korea. In the meantime, among the large number of urban spaces and venues involved in the scramble for capital in the post-industry age, it steals the thunder by its unique and charming characteristics. A different stake exists between all visual decoration and image comprising the landscapes in these two art districts. Further, the arguments and intense thinking of Chinese and Korean contemporary art histories, through the platform of art district, are truly shown in specific space by the visual reappearance of the landscape. Finally, the entire artistic space is completely impressed by the development process of Chinese and Korean contemporary art histories, and acquires the historical value and cultural authenticity value through the "created symbolic value" of the symbolic strategies of the landscapes. Nowadays, the public space of798Art District and Insadong Cultural District presented visually in front of us are decomposed to individual activity venue through the in person experiences of the users, and reconstructed in the aspects of subjectivity and mentality. This thesis also mentions the concept of "interactivity", which is the brand new media environment and interactive art. This "interactivity" can be verified theoretically. Therefore, the798Art District and Insadong Cultural District respectively representing the culture and arts of China and South Korea are firstly decomposed to numerous small venues according to our own physical experiences, and later recomposed to the mobile new space with our selection and.activities. This is the decomposition and reconstruction of two artistic spaces I advocate. During this process, the "interactivity" can be realized and the artistic shared value can be practiced in the actual life.
