| Print,first appeared in China,was invented due to the discovery and development of printing and woodblock printing.After its transmission to the west world,this kind of art has been widely used to play the social role of accelerating the spread of religion and culture which enabled to educate people.With the evolution of era and development of art,print has been gradually converted into a medium of pure art.Because of the rapid development of science and technology,as well as the incorporation of new vocabulary and concepts,print has taken on a new look which is different from the immediacy of painting,but without losing its direct spirituality of artistic expression and indirect contextuality.This dissertation presents the argument of "Cultural Ambassador of the Age",to discuss on Liao Shiou-Ping.Mr.Liao,as a printmaker,has spared no effort to promote the development of modern print art,dedicating all his personal experience in a selfless attitude,as an angel carrying with a special mission and spirit to delivery.Moreover,he has made a great influence and contribution to the development and evolution of print art in Taiwan and China’s mainland.The question is what factors are behind this?This dissertation will discuss and analyze this with serveral cores.The first chapter will discuss the role that print plays in the course of social change;The second chapter will analyze Mr.Liao’s personal artmaking experience;The Third chapter will discuss Mr.Liao’s contribution to the development of modern print in Taiwan and China’s mainland;The Last Chapter will analyze the interrelationship between Taiwan and China’s mainland in the communicative process of print,art and culture.Through these four core arguments,this dissertation will demonstrate and justificate the importance of the "Cultural Ambassador of the Age" to the modern print in Taiwan and China’s mainland.At last,the dissertation will discuss on the communication of print between Taiwan and China’s mainland under the concept of the global village,checking on whether this communication is an exchange of the same cultural context and identity,and whether this communication can share some uesful experience to the development of modern print in the Asia-Pacific area. |
