A Mathematical Study On Graphics In Yi-ology

The study of Yi Ching(also named the Book of Changes)is Yi-ology,which is the root of Chinese culture and the origin of Chinese traditional graphics design.All the graphics related with Yi Ching can be referred to the graphics of Yi-ology,based on mathematics including images,numbers and the philosophy of Yi.This paper tries to define the graphics of Chinese Yi-ology by starting with the theory of the Book of Changes.Then the paper proposes three mathematical models and focuses on the study of the carrier of graphics and mathematical features by the innovative mathematical research method.Examples are presented to demonstrate the beauty of mathematics in Chinese traditional culture and finally this paper provides important instructions to the revival of traditional Chinese culture and design of graphics in contemporary China.The so-called Yi-ology is based on the Book of Changes with the addition of relevant notes and theories proposed by other famous scholars.Yi Ching is the hermeneutic of Chinese basic culture.After three thousand years' development,although there is no any strictly theoretical system of Yi Ching,it has a long history and substantial content.In this paper,the author would summarize the Yi-ology from Zhou Dynasty to Song Dynasty by different genres,theories and research methods.In this paper,the original mathematical method combines the philosophical connotation school of Yi-ology,which is famous for interpreting classics,classic appearance and text exegesis,with the image-numerology school of Zhou Yi,which mainly focuses on interpreting philosophy and thoughts of the image-number.This is an innovative research method that can achieve the dialectical unity of both image-numerology and philosophical connotation.Graphics in Yi-ology create the shape by its implication and the implication always has its mathematics.Thus,graphics in Yi-ology can be referred as thegraphic design based on Yi-ology with the carrier of different kinds of graphics,which can also represent Chinese traditional culture and technology.Graphics in Yi-ology is one of the representational forms in Yi-culture.It represents by plane figure,Graphical modeling and planning graphic,which can be used in construction,ceramics,bronze,printing and dyeing,embroidery,lacquer art,statues and other practical designs.In this way,graphics has affected the daily life of Chinese people for thousands of years.This paper tries to enrich the theory study of Chinese traditional graphics by researching how mathematical thoughts are presented in the design background,design thinking,design style and design content of graphics in Yi-ology.Then the author points out the phenomenon of form to form theory in contemporary graphic design and make certain guidance and academic significance to Chinese graphic design.
